Nakhim Shifrin

Efim Shifrin is one of the brightest representatives of the Soviet and Russian stage. Over the years of his artistic career, he managed to realize himself both as a distinctive comedian, and as a theatrical figure, film actor, writer and even an athlete.

Efim Shifrin, whose real name is Nakhim, was born in the Magadan region, in the village of Neksikan. His father, an accountant and writer Zalman Shmuilovich Shifrin, was serving exile there. He was repressed in his youth for ethnicity. Zalman met his wife Rasha Tsipina, mother of Efim and his older brother Samuel by correspondence.

After school, the future satirist entered the Faculty of Philology of the Latvian State University. In the evenings he took part in student theater rehearsals.

Having passed the first year session, Shifrin took the documents from the university and went to Moscow to become a student at the circus school. There he ended up in the pop department, where director-director Roman Viktyuk was his main teacher.
