The real name of the athlete is Mirko Filipovich. The future MMA fighter was born on September 10, 1974 in the city of Vinkovci, Croatia. From an early age, the boy became interested in sports, but at that time Croatia was literally devastated and destroyed by the war. There were no conditions for full-fledged training, and Mirko studied at home, using walls as a projectile.

Mirko's efforts were not in vain: as a teenager, the athlete won about 40 victories in amateur kickboxers. And already in 1996, Filipovich's professional sports biography began.

In parallel with training, Mirko Filipovic worked in the Croatian police, being a fighter of a special anti-terrorist unit. For this, the athlete received the nickname Crokop, which in English means "Croatian Cop". And although Mirko spent his first fights under the pseudonym Tiger, the athlete became famous precisely as Crocop.

The start of Mirko Krokop's career was marked by a series of victories and defeats: a successful fight with Jerome Le Banner in 1996, a defeat by Ernesto Justo, a victory over Ricky Nicholson, a knockout by Havit Bayrami. The athlete was looking for his own style and learned to control himself and build battle tactics. The Croat lost the first world championship, but gained experience, which was useful later.

However, the Russian was unable to enter the ring due to charges of assaulting a pensioner. Therefore, Mirko had to fight with Alexey Oleinik. For Crocop, the fight was a failure.

The next couple of years proved to be quite successful for Filipovich. Victories followed one after another. Satoshi Ishii, Gabriel Gonzago - the list of defeated opponents grew steadily. However, in the fall of 2015, information about Mirko Krokop's departure from sports began to spread again. This time it happened, only not by the athlete's own will, but by the decision of the United States Anti-Doping Commission.

Despite the tenseness of the situation, Mirko Krokop found the strength to make a statement: the athlete admitted that he was taking illegal hormonal drugs in order to recover faster from a shoulder injury. The punishment for the fighter was temporary disqualification.

Already in the summer of 2016, the fighter returned to the ring and after a series of bright and spectacular victories he received the title of champion of the Rizin FF Grand Prix tournament held in Japan.

The personal life of the brutal Crocop (the height of the fighter is 1.88 m) is developing much more calmly than a sports career. Mirko is happily married. The chosen one of the athlete named Claudia gave the man two sons; Ivan and Philip.

In addition to sports, Mirko is interested in the social life of the country. The fighter was even elected to the Croatian parliament, where he served for the good of the people from 2003 to 2007. Mirko also tried his hand on the set, appearing in the title role in the film "Higher Power" directed by Mark Berson.
