Russian Paralympic athletes have long established the title of real heroes, strong-willed and stubborn people who, despite difficulties, win. Mikhalina Lysova is a beautiful girl who brought the country several Olympic and world medals for biathlon and cross-country skiing competitions.

The future Paralympics and World Championships champion was born in the Sverdlovsk Region, in the industrial provincial city of Nizhny Tagil on March 29, 1992. The girl's dad works as a mechanic at Uralvagonzavod, and her mother in kindergarten. Mikhalina says that she received a rare name in honor of her grandmother, who was from Belarus.

The skier has an older sister. By the way, it was thanks to her that the athlete began to engage in cross-country skiing. When Michalina was ten years old, she went with her sister to a training session at a ski lodge.

But the parents of the skier were very worried about her daughter's sports activities. Doctors were ambivalent about physical activity. Adults feared that hobby could have a detrimental effect on the girl's condition and impair her vision, which was already the cause of her disability.

Despite everything, Mikhalina did not stop training, and soon the young athlete was noticed by Valery Ogorodnikov, the coach of the Russian Paralympic team. Under his leadership, Lysova began specialized training, became part of the national team and reached first places in the main world competitions.

Once in the Paralympic team, the girl starts intensive training. Alexey Ivanov, who was previously also trained by Ogorodnikov, becomes the accompanying person at the competitions and training camps. Mikhalina recalls that at first the cooperation did not work out. But then the athletes worked together.

The girl speaks with gratitude about the guide and notes that they understand each other without words. Alexey helps the skier to go down the slope on the track in the safest and fastest way. Lysova's debut in international competitions in biathlon and cross-country skiing among athletes with visual impairments took place in 2007 at the World Championships.

Excellent results served as a pass to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. The 17-year-old made a splash at her first winter games. Mikhalina brought five medals to Russia - one gold, two silver and two bronze. The world championship in Khanty-Mansiysk in 2011 was also not without first places for Lysova.

The success was consolidated at the 2014 Paralympics in Sochi. The athlete took three gold and three silver medals in biathlon and cross-country skiing. For her work and perseverance, the girl was honored to carry the country's flag at the closing ceremony of the games.

The young beauty herself admits in an interview that it is more difficult for her not even confrontation with her rivals on the track, but a psychological struggle with herself. Another important close person appeared in the girl's life - Mikhalina's husband - Dmitry Shulga. The young man, like his wife, was engaged in biathlon and cross-country skiing, only played for the Ukrainian national team. Now, for the welfare of the family, Dmitry left sports and organized a small private business.

In 2015, Lysova announced that she was temporarily retiring and missing the season. A joyful event happened in the family - the couple was waiting for an addition. In the same year, Mikhalina gave her husband a son, Demid.
