Mikhail Sheleg was born on September 27, 1955 on the Far Eastern island of Sakhalin. His small homeland was a town called Korsakov. The guy tried to get a higher education by entering the Chernigov Pedagogical Institute, but did not take into account that the manifestation of creativity would not be appreciated here. Once the artist arranged an impromptu exhibition of abstractions right in the lobby of an educational institution. The rector of the university did not understand such an initiative and expelled the student for poor academic performance in the Ukrainian language, and according to the unofficial version - for love of freedom.

Sheleg always liked Leningrad. The northern capital seduced him so much that in 1981 he decided to move to the city of dreams. Mikhail got a job as a 5th grade painter at GlavLenstroy. To make acquaintances and prove himself, he joined the club of the author's song "Vostok". In the evenings, the musician performed at the club and took part in festivals and creative events.

Having made friends with the artist Alexander Cherkasov, Sheleg organized a bard club "Experimental partnership of songwriters", and in short - ETAP. Mikhail went on the trip with famous artists, including: Larisa Dolina, Elena Drapeko, Oleg Basilashvili and the Secret group. In 1991, together with several artists performing in the chanson genre, he became a participant in a festival held in the city on the Neva.

In 1993, Mikhail Sheleg had an author's TV show called "Northern Chanson". The bard was very interested in the work of Arkady Severny. The release of the musician's debut album "In nature, up!" Belongs to this period of time. The collection of thieves' songs was popular, and Sheleg began to perform in recitals.

In 1995, Sheleg moved to the capital and acquired more substantial opportunities. He made acquaintance with Natalia Shturm, Alexander Ivanov, Oksana Orlova, Alexander Marshal and other artists.
