Em Kalinin is a prominent figure in the Russian musical underground. The musician and poet is the author of several conceptual projects, the creator and vocalist of the "Affinage" and "Mister Bydlocycle" bands. At an early age, the boy became interested in poetry, tried to write his own poems. After graduating from school in 2006, he became a student at the Vologda Pedagogical University. After graduating from an educational institution in 2011, he moved to St. Petersburg.

The musician hides his personal life from the public. In "Instagram" Mikhail - only a photo with himself or pictures with other creators. The talent was noticed: in 2008 the young man became a finalist of the Ilya Prize, a competition dedicated to the memory of the poet Ilya Tyurin. Then, while still living in Vologda, he organized a literary salon "New Diogenes".

In 2010, the student released the audiobook "I'm 22", and after - the poem "Dual". In parallel with writing, the young man tries himself in music. So, back in his student years, he created the AIDS project (s), within which 3 albums appeared. The songs "Ship" and "Trunk" immediately became hits.

With his university friend Sergei Shilyaev (Sergei Sergeevich), the guy in 2012 decides to found a team, the repertoire of which includes compositions with expressive lyrics, light absurdity and obscene vocabulary. The group gets the name "Mister Bydlocycle" and quickly finds its audience.

At the same time, the friends act as an acoustic duo with the original name "Me and Möbius Going to Champagne". Soon the accordionist Alexander Koryukovets joined the musicians, and later the trombonist Sasha Om. As a result, the "Refining" group is born.

The new team works in a genre that Em himself called an intimate noir chanson. The quartet's songs use elements of soft grunge, jazz and soul. But the poet's creative energy did not stop there - in the same period with Sergei Sergeevich, the guy wrote poetry and music for the solo project "Millien Terzaniy".

Over time, this creative diversity is formatted - as a result, "Mr. Bedlocycle" and "Refining" remain active. Both teams are conceptually different. The first is satirical, allowing for liberties and "rudeness". The second is romantic, filled with lyrical experiences. The concerts of the bands are very popular with the public.

In addition to working with these groups, Kalinin composes the soundtrack for the film directed by Alexei Rybin "It will be over soon." He also collaborates with the performers "25/17", with whom he records 2 compositions for the album "Eve Goes to Babylon". In 2017, the guy released a collection of Poems, which included Mikhail's poetic creations over a decade (starting in 2007).
