The baptismal ceremony took place on 4 August 1942 at the private chapel of Windsor Castle. Less than a month later, Prince Michael lost his father - George died in a car accident on 25 August.

Michael of Kent was educated at Stangdale Private School and Eton College. In his youth, he mastered French, German and Italian, and also became the first member of the royal family to learn Russian.
