Biography
Michael Bisping, nicknamed The Earl, is one of the most awarded UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fighters in the UK. Now he retired, but in the history of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts, from the English. "Mixed martial arts") is still a legend. In July 2019, Michael Bisping was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
fact
Childhood and youth
Michael Bisping was born on February 28, 1979 at a British military base located in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. His mother was born in Ireland, and his father is from the suburbs of London, so the fighter is British by nationality.
Michael Bisping's childhood was spent in Lancashire, on the shores of the Irish Sea. In St. Augustine's Roman Catholic High School in Billington, he received his basic education.
Michael Bisping became addicted to martial arts at the age of 8, starting with Jiu-Jitsu. And in 1994 he performed for the first time at the Knock Down Sport Budo - the predecessor of modern MMA.
At the age of 18, Michael Bisping decided to leave the sport for the sake of "real life", but less than a year later he began to expand his piggy bank of skills. He took up boxing, karate and kickboxing. In the latter form of single combats, Graf has twice won the Pro British light heavyweight title.
In his youth, victories did not bring Michael Bisping millions of royalties, and he still left the sport: he had to earn a living. The fighter worked in factories, slaughterhouses and demolition companies, worked as an upholsterer, postman, tiler, plasterer and salesman.
fact
Personal life
Michael Bisping is an exemplary husband and father of three children, Callum, Ellie and Lucas. His wife Rebecca comes from a noble family in Adelaide, Australia's richest city. For the sake of her personal life, she left the secular get-together and now runs the household.

The fighter prefers not to flaunt his personal life, but Rebecca Bisping's Instagram is replete with family photos. Judging by the content, the eldest son Callum is the biggest pride of the parents. He graduated from high school in May 2019 and moved to San Francisco.
fact
Mixed martial arts
For the first time at MMA, Michael Bisping performed on April 4, 2004. He crushed opponents left and right, thus earning the nickname Great Britain's Great Hope. The fighter came to the UFC with a record of 11 victories without a single defeat.
Michael Bisping's first fight under the auspices of the UFC took place in December 2006. His rival Eric Schafer was knocked out in the 1st round final.
For another year, the Earl remained a flint, and he suffered his debut defeat at the hands of Rashad Evans in November 2007. The American won the victory by a split decision, and not because he obviously dominated the opponent. By that time, Michael Bisping had 14 triumphant fights in his piggy bank.
The opening defeat served as a signal that it was necessary to change tactics. Then the Graf, as advised by the MMA experts, lost weight to medium weight. The first fight against Charles McCarthy demonstrated how correct the decision was: Michael Bisping literally fluttered over the octagon.
Luke Rockhold vs. Michael Bisping - weigh-in staredown
The competitive parameters of Michael Bisping when moving to a new category were as follows: with a height of 187 cm, he weighed no more than 83 kg. The span of the arms reached 193 cm.
A worthy contender was found in the middle weight too. In July 2009, Michael Bisping met with Dan Henderson. The American was the first to knock out the Graf. The head injury was so serious that Michael Bisping, waking up, could not remember the fight: he thought that he would enter the octagon only after 2 months.
The next fateful fight in the biography of Michael Bisping took place in January 2013. By that time, his record was 23 wins, including in a fight with Brian Stann, against four defeats. This time the Graf was opposed by the ruthless Brazilian Vitor Belfort.
It was after the fight with Vitor Belfort that Michael Bisping began to have vision problems: a high-kick in the right temple resulted in retinal detachment. The count was afraid to see a doctor - this could put an end to his career.

Over time, the eye began to see worse, and I had to lie down on the operating table. Despite 5 operations to restore vision, Michael Bisping continued to go blind. As a result, the darkened eyeball, filled with blood, had to be removed; now it is being replaced by a prosthesis.
The injury did not convince the Graf to retire from mixed martial arts. Getting used to half-blindness, the Briton lost several battles in 2014 - against Tim Kennedy and Luke Rockhold.
Traditionally, the fall was followed by a triumphant rise. Inspired by his victory over Anderson Silva, in the summer of 2016, Michael Bisping called back into the octagon Luke Rockhold, by then the UFC middleweight champion. After 3.5 minutes of the 1st round, Graf took the title from his opponent, becoming the first British champion in the history of the promotion.
Michael Bisping had a belt around his waist for just one fight. In October 2016, he made a successful defense against Dan Henderson, and in November 2017, the UFC middleweight title was rightfully passed to Canadian Georges Saint-Pierre.
On November 25, 2017, Graf fought his final career fight against Calvin Gastelum. Michael Bisping left MMA with a record of 30 wins against 9 losses.
fact
Michael Bisping now
After completing his career, Michael Bisping devoted himself to several areas at once, for example, acting. He previously starred in films - "Anomaly" (2014) and "My name is Lenny" (2016), but now there is more time for filming. The graph can be seen in the action movies "Hunt for Thieves" (2018) and "Triple Threat" (2019), as well as in the TV series "Warrior".
In November 2019, Michael Bisping released the book Quitters Never Win: My Life in the UFC.
Since the beginning of 2020, Michael Bisping began to devote a lot of time to journalism. In particular, he comments on UFC fights and conducts interviews with participants in the battles.
In order not to "rust", the Count is still exercising. Now he focuses on boxing. Michael Bisping can often be found hitting the punching bag at SPAR BAR, a network of clubs in the UK.
