Born Melvin Kaminsky in New York, Mel Brooks was first destined for a career as a comedian on American television in the early fifties. Alongside young talents like Neil Simon, Larry Gelbart or Woody Allen, he worked for six seasons for the show Your Show of Shows (future Caesar's Hour ) by Sid Caesar.
