Biography
There are a number of actors and actresses who stand out favorably against their colleagues due to their non-standard appearance: Ron Perlman, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cara Delevingne, Vincent Cassel, Noomi Rapace, Cillian Murphy, Saoirse Ronan. The list can be continued for a long time, but it is worth stopping at Meg Foster - an actress with fantastic blue eyes.
fact
Childhood and youth
The future actress was born on May 10, 1948. It happened in the city of Reading - the district center of Burkes, Pennsylvania (USA). Margaret, as the full name of the actress sounds, was one of five children of David Foster and his wife Nancy Adamson. Meg had one brother named Ian, as well as three sisters: Nina, Gray and Ian.
Almost immediately after Meg's birth, her family moved first to Rowighton, Connecticut, and then to Lowell, Massachusetts. It was in Lowell that Meg entered a private boarding school.
Once, during the summer holidays, the girl decided to take part in the play "The Body of John Brown", which was staged by the theater group at Cornell University. The reason that prompted Foster to take this step was simple: so the girl could try something new for herself, as well as make new acquaintances.
The performance went off with a bang. Although Meg did not play the main role, her talent was noted and praised. Someone even advised the girl to think seriously about the career of an actress. Which Foster did. After graduation, the girl moved to New York to study and perform at the District Theater School.
While studying at a New York university, Foster realized that she wanted to play not only on the stage, but also in full-length films that are shown in cinemas. Therefore, after receiving her diploma, the girl got on a plane and went to conquer the casting sites in Los Angeles.
fact
Films and series
Meg made her debut in 1970, starring in the western comedy series And Here Are The Brides. This was followed by episodes of the cult detective series "Hawaii 5.0", in which Foster could also be seen. In the story, a special unit of the Hawaiian police, led by detective Steve McGareth, investigates non-standard crimes.
In the same year, the aspiring actress appeared on the big screen. Meg, along with the still young Michael Douglas, starred in the drama Adam at Six AM by Robert Shearer (The Hotel, Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Secrets of Dowling's Father). A year later, Foster appeared in the crime series "Cannon", which tells about the detective of the same name, played by William Conrad.
In 1972, Meg took part in the filming of the sci-fi detective series The Sixth Sense, which tells about the work of the staff of the Department of Parapsychology, a large research organization. From 1973 to 1979, the actress starred in the popular TV series "Police Story", filmed in the genre of a crime drama with elements of an action movie.
In 1980, she appeared in the very famous film "Carney" by Robert Kaylor ("Derby", "Nobody is perfect") with Gary Busey, Robbie Robertson and her namesake Jodie Foster. Also this year, she co-starred with Jeff Goldblum in the television production of The Legends of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. The tape also turned out to be a walk-through - against the background of other adaptations of the cult Gothic work.
From 1981 to 1988, the actress starred in the detective series "Cagney and Lacey", which tells about the cops-companions, who unravel complex cases, and also try to establish their own lives.
During the breaks between the seasons of Cagney and Lacey, Meg starred in films. So, for example, in 1983, the cult Osterman Weekend, directed by Sam Pekipna (Dangerous Companions, The Wild Gang, Assassins Elite), thundered on screens all over the country, was written by Robert Ludlum, the author of books about special agent Jason Bourne. ... In addition to the action-packed plot, Pekipna's picture also boasts a strong cast: Rutger Hauer, John Hurt, Dennis Hopper and others.
1985 was marked by the release of the action-adventure film "The Emerald Forest", directed by John Burman ("Point Blank", "Deliverance", "The Tailor from Panama"). In the story, an engineer loses his son in the Amazon jungle during the construction of the dam. The next ten years of his life he will devote to his search.
Two years later, Foster starred in the film adaptation of He-Man and the Lords of the Universe directed by Gary Goddard. Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella and Courteney Cox joined the actress on the set.
In 1988, the cult film by no less iconic director - "Strangers Among Us" by John Carpenter ("Big Trouble in Little China", "Something", "In the Jaws of Madness") was released. The film told about a builder who found unusual glasses that showed the world as it is. Caustic satire in a fantastic wrapper has left a great legacy behind it - from quotes to companies named after similar ones in the film.
From 1989 to 1993, Meg Foster starred in the science fiction series Quantum Leap with Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell. In 1989, together with her old acquaintance Rutger Hauer, she appeared in the action movie Blind Fury by Phillip Noyce, popular in the nineties (The Dead Pool, Games of the Patriots, Sliver).
The nineties passed for the actress under the auspices of trash films: the black comedy "Severed Heads", the action movie "Strike from the Future" - a weak clone of "Terminator", only with Don "Dragon" Wilson, as well as "Oblivion" and "Oblivion 2: Repulse" - comedic space westerns.
Things were a little better in terms of series - Meg played a character named Hera in the cult series The Amazing Journeys of Hercules (1995-1999) with Kevin Sorbo and Xena, Warrior Princess (1995-2001) with Lucy Lawless. Children of those years ran as fast as they could to TVs so as not to miss a single episode about the adventures of their favorite characters.
In 1999, Meg co-starred with Owen Wilson in the crime thriller Deprived of Life, a film about a maniac who kills people who are unhappy with their lives.
At the beginning of the new millennium, the actress took a short break to rest and reconsider some outlook on life. Her return turned out to be successful - fans immediately recognized the idol in the series "The Mentalist" with Simon Baker and in "Pretty Little Liars" with Shay Mitchell, Sasha Peters, Janelle Peerrish and Laura Leighton.
Then there were several films by Rob Zombie - "Lords of Salem" and "31: The Celebration of Death". In them, the actress had a chance to remember the nineties: all the charm of the trash and enthusiasm of the creators, who managed to shoot something interesting for a penny.
The last films with the participation of the actress released by the end of autumn 2017 are the horror film Jeepers Creepers 3 by Victor Salva and the new season of the TV series Twin Peaks by the notorious David Lynch. These projects managed to make a successful comeback after a long lull.
fact
Personal life
The actress was married to actor Stephen McHatty ("Mom!", "The Strain", "Dark Child"), but the couple did not live together for long.
Meg also met with another actor - Ron Starr ("I am a spy", "Horse Racing in the Highlands"), from whom she had a son, Christopher Starr.
fact
Meg Foster now
Judging by the fact that the actress has been approved in at least two more projects, she does not plan to leave the cinema in the near future - to the delight of the fans. In 2018, there will be two horror films with Foster's participation - "Abode 333" by Aash Aaron and "Case No. 13" by Christian De Lara.
Meg spends her free time at her ranch located in northeast Washington. She acquired it during a break in work that occurred in the early 2000s. The actress just saw an advertisement for the sale of the site in the newspaper, looked at the attached photos and just fell in love with this area.
