Maria Solomina, nee Leonidova, did not manage to stay on the screen long enough to become the object of increased attention of journalists and biographers. Therefore, little is known about the childhood and youth of the actress before meeting with Vitaly Solomin.

Maria Antoninovna Leonidova was born on March 2, 1949. After leaving school, the girl studied in Leningrad, at the Leningrad Higher Art School named after I. Mukhina, however, she graduated from the Moscow Textile Institute in order to be closer to her husband.

Maria did not think about the acting profession, and she got to the shooting of her first film, "Urban Romance" by accident. The girl, then still a student of "Mukhinka", was walking through the city, and Todorovsky's assistant suddenly stumbled upon her. Since the director was looking for an actress similar to the heroine of the film, Maria, fragile and childishly pretty - this feature is visible in Masha's photo in her youth, he was invited to audition and immediately approved.

The role opened the way for the girl to the world of cinema - the film, released in 1971, was a huge success, and the actress, as if she got into the image, fell in love with the audience. The next picture, "Clouds", came out in 1973 and was received much more calmly.

After that, there was a frankly unsuccessful "Leap from the Roof", filmed in 1977. There Masha was already filming with her husband Vitaly Solomin, and both had mediocre impressions of the filming process.

The painting "Two in a New House" was more successful at the box office, but put an end to the career of an actress. The partner turned out to be Alexander Abdulov, one of the most popular female actors in the USSR, which aroused her husband's jealousy. After that, the actor categorically forbade his wife to act in films without him.

Since Maria, by that time not only her wife, but also her mother, did not aspire to the screen, after that there were only two significant roles in her filmography. In 1979, the actress played the twins Helen and Julia Stoner in the first episode of the Soviet TV series about Sherlock Holmes. Both the film and the role delighted the audience, but in 1981 Maria appeared on the screen for the last time - she played Stassi in the film adaptation of the popular operetta "Silva".

After that, Maria Antoninovna finished acting and devoted herself to the family.

With Vitaly Solomin, who later became her husband, Masha met at the audition for "City Romance". He was already approved for the main role, but a conflict arose between Peter Todorovsky and the future "Doctor Watson": they both liked the aspiring actress too much.

The director, in order to eliminate a competitor, removed Solomin from the role and invited Yevgeny Kindinov instead. Maria herself liked Todorovsky's attention, the girl was carried away by the director, although their relationship did not imply a transition to the platonic framework.

However, Solomin was not going to give up and, torn between filming, came to Odessa, trying to conquer the girl. She did not fall in love immediately, but Vitaly knew how to look after, and Masha was then very young and inexperienced in relationships. This is probably what attracted the actor, who was deeply hurt by the betrayal of his first wife.

After the end of filming, the girl returned to Leningrad, and she and Solomin continued to meet in fits and starts - the actor was constantly busy on the set, and he rarely managed to get out to his beloved. The offer had already been made, Masha agreed, but the wedding was constantly postponed due to Vitaly's busy schedule.

And then one day, on October 28, 1970, when the girl had to go to school, Solomin volunteered to accompany her and asked to go to the registry office on the way - supposedly to submit an application. But they did not have to wait, they were painted on the same day - it turned out that Vitaly had agreed in advance about such a quick registration, citing the need to urgently leave for the tour. However, for another whole year, the young lived practically separately: Solomin in Moscow for work, Masha in Leningrad, because of her studies.

When the girl nevertheless transferred to study in Moscow, at first the couple lived in Vitaly's room in a hostel. At first Solomin was afraid that the young wife would be frightened of the "common life", but Maria unexpectedly became delighted with the atmosphere and bohemian life.

After graduating from college, the girl went to work in a fashion magazine. Maria really did not think about her stage career: Vitaly immediately said that he would not tolerate acting from his wife. The family had a clear patriarchal division of responsibilities: the husband was the head of the family and the breadwinner, Masha was the mistress of the house and mother.

Vitaly turned out to be an extremely jealous husband and made every effort to prevent the slightest chance of Maria's betrayal. That is why the actor set a condition according to which the wife, if she could occasionally act in films, then only with him - Solomin wanted to completely control Masha's personal life.

The actor, meanwhile, allowed himself to “walk to the left”. During his marriage, he had two serious affairs, and both times this caused Maria Solomina enormous suffering. In the early 1980s, Vitaly almost left the family - the marriage was saved only by the fact that the woman became pregnant a second time.

However, despite Vitaly's complex and tough character, it was difficult to call the actor a home tyrant. The man anxiously loved his wife and especially his daughters, highly appreciated the very concept of family and home, did not forget about holidays and memorable dates. On the wedding anniversary, a bouquet of flowers was waiting for Maria in the morning - Solomin did not need to be reminded of this. It's funny, but for all the traditional views, the actor did not recognize the holiday on March 8, considering it humiliating for women.

In marriage, the Solomins had two children: in 1973, Anastasia was born, and 11 years later, in 1983, the second daughter Lisa.

The death of her husband in 2002 was a heavy blow for Maria Antoninovna. Daughter Elizabeth admitted in an interview that her mother was depressed, practically did not eat and cried constantly. Larisa Udovichenko helped Solomina to get out: to keep her friend occupied, she offered to help with the design of the apartment. Creative work distracted the woman from difficult experiences and helped to come to terms with loss.

For many years, Maria was interested in people only as the wife of Solomin, and after the death of the actor, the interest of journalists in her biography faded away.

The last appearance of a woman in public took place in 2012 at the opening of a memorial plaque to Vitaly Solomin. What Maria Antoninovna is doing now is unknown to the press.
