Until the 9th grade, it was difficult to combine study with training - Masha attended school with in-depth study of foreign languages.

After the 9th grade, the girl was transferred to a school at the Olympic Reserve School, and there it became easier - the attitude towards the athletes in her was loyal. The first successes soon came. According to Maria's recollections, at the age of 6 or 7, she went to competitions in another city, and soon began to win competitions in her age groups.

Maria has been skiing for 15 years, but then she had to change her specialization. The girl was "removed" from the team - relations in her were not developing in the best way, the results were not encouraging, and the athlete was injured. The coaches decided not to wait for her, and Masha, having learned about the recruitment to the ski cross team, after thinking a little, switched to freestyle.

In this sport, the girl's success became more noticeable - in 2011 she was offered a place in the Russian national team. At the 2012 World Cup, held in the Swiss commune of Grindelwald, Maria Komissarova became the silver medalist. Also, the athlete became the first woman in the history of Russia to take a medal in ski cross, thereby earning the unofficial title of "face of Russian ski freestyle".

2013 passed for Masha without competition - the girl injured her leg and was forced to undergo surgery, which disabled the athlete for six months. However, the treatment was successful, and in 2014 Maria was supposed to take part in the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The girl was immediately taken to a clinic in Krasnaya Polyana, where she was operated on, and the next day she was taken to Munich for treatment - there was a second operation. However, due to the trauma, the spinal cord was damaged, which led to a complete loss of sensitivity in the lower half of the body - Maria did not feel anything below the navel.

After 2 operations, the girl was transferred to a rehabilitation clinic, where they began to learn how to use a wheelchair. It was then that Masha realized how serious her situation was - before that, the athlete hoped that nothing serious had happened, she would be cured, and she would again walk and ski.

Treatment in Germany turned out to be expensive, moreover, the doctors were in no hurry to reassure Maria, honestly telling the girl that she would no longer walk. The athlete decided not to give up and, when she was promised a full recovery while undergoing treatment at the Spanish clinic of Dr. Evgeny Blum, immediately agreed to an expensive but potentially effective therapy.

However, the promises were empty. Over the years of treatment in Spain, an improvement in health has not been achieved, despite Masha's hard work and a huge amount of money paid to the clinic. In total, more than 50 million rubles were spent on treatment. Maria's family did not have such funds, so the whole world collected money for the treatment of the athlete.

And at the end of February 2019, on her Instagram page, the girl announced that she was pregnant and was expecting a baby again. For the sake of Maria, Alexey left sports and devotes all his time to his family.
