Biography
Mario Bechis was born in Chile. He spent his childhood between Sao Polo and Buenos Aires under the care of his father of Italian origin and his Argentine mother. With the arrival of the dictatorship in Argentina, he was imprisoned in one of the concentration camps of this regime, Club Atletico, with a sad reputation. Following this sequestration for political reasons, he went into exile in Italy. He wears several professional hats as a teacher and then a photographer.
In 1991, he directed his first feature film Alambrado. However, he is best known for Garage Olimpo (1999), a film which allows him to bear witness to the atrocity of torture and its repercussions on families under the dictatorship in Argentina.
In 2001, he returned with Hijos who once again explored the family relationships torn by the dark pages of history.
