Maybe you want to compose music, but you don't know the musical notation?

On the contrary, there is, of course, that the idea is great, and has long been realized - Impulse Tracker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulse_Tracker). You need a virtual machine, for example with VmWare with MS-DOS OS, run the program, connect the guitar and watch. The reception of the sound from the computer is not based on a microphone or some other technique that interprets the sound, but directly with a cable from the amplifier on the channel of your sound card. Here is a short demonstration - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecnVkIbeorg

AP Tuner - used to tune the guitar, but writes any note anywhere on the fretboard. It's free, very good ... I used it to record a melody that I hum with my mouth or guitar if I don't remember right away which tone is playing right now.

There is no chance to have such a program: D But the idea is not bad, there will just be a huge delay until the sound is processed by the computer and the corresponding note corresponding to the corresponding tone is displayed on the screen. By the way, what is such a program for you? There is another one, Guitar Pro 5 (there is also a 6th version), which is for notes and tabs - there are ready-made tabs of songs on the Internet written for this program - you open it, press a button and it does what is written.
