Hi, I'm a 17 year old girl and I've known for a long time that I'm a lesbian. But no one knows but my best friend. I have a lot of girlfriends at school and I'm among the 'popular' girls, so I'm afraid to admit the truth so that everyone doesn't turn their backs on me. Recently, however, I started to like a girl from the other class - she trains football, wears huge T-shirts, skinny pants, baseball caps, buttons and never puts on makeup. Her behavior is also atypical for a girl - she only goes out with boys, jokes with them like brothers, and since I know her, she has never looked at a boy in a special way. I was almost convinced that she was a lesbian, but I soon heard her shout about a boy "look at him like a fagot", and I've heard her throw in some such homophobic hints before. This made me very hesitant and now I don't know what to do. Should I tell her how I feel and does her behavior and appearance show in any way that she may be a lesbian? !!

Just because she's masculine doesn't mean she's necessarily a lesbian. However, her statement worries me somewhat. Why not make friends first, go out, get to know her so you can possibly decide what to do.
