Kwon Ji Young (this is the real name of G-Dragon) was born on August 18, 1988 in the capital of South Korea, Seoul. As the youngest child, Ji Young became a favorite of the family: both his parents and his older sister Dami doted on him. However, the future idol had a particularly close relationship with his mother. According to the musician, he was a shy child and all the time he followed his mother's tail.

Shyness left Ji Young only on stage, which was familiar from childhood. The parents gave up, and as a result, Ji Young studied ballet for only a couple of months, although he remembered them for the rest of his life.

He was already preparing to form a full duet with Taeyang, but the president of the agency announced his intention to form a male idol group. In 2006, Ji Young took part in the Big Bang Documentary show, which resulted in not only joining the Big Bang group, but also becoming its leader in August.

During his time in the group, Kwon proved himself not only as a performer, but also became the author of many songs. The young man wrote music, poetry and translated lyrics into Korean for covers of foreign hits. In 2007 he created the song "Lies", which the musician planned to include in his solo album.

However, according to the decision of the director of the label, the composition went to the group and became its first hit to reach the top of the charts. After that, Ji Young wrote 2 more hits - "Last Farewell" and "Day By Day", thanks to which he was recognized as the best composer of 2008.

In parallel with his participation in the group, the singer was engaged in a solo career. In 2009, on his 21st birthday, G-Dragon released his first solo album, Heartbreaker. Due to the popularity of the title track, the disc achieved huge sales and won the Album of the Year title at the Mnet Asian Music Awards. The record did not escape the scandal - Sony Music accused Ji Young of plagiarizing the music of Flo Rida and the Oasis group, but the examination did not find any similarities.

Another scandal in 2009 came after G-Dragon's solo performance in support of the album: the artist was accused of indecent behavior and ambiguity in lyrics. However, this did not lead to anything - on March 15, 2010, Ji Young was found completely innocent.

G-Dragon released his next solo album (mini format) in 2012. The disc "One of a Kind" includes the song "Crayon", for which the singer shot a bright, challenging video. In the video, Ji Young appears in several looks, each with its own hairstyle and hair color.

One of the songs, the lyrical composition "Without you", was performed by more than one singer - a duet with Ji Young was sung by Rosé from another idol group "Black Pink". And in 2013, the singer's fans were already waiting for a full-fledged disc "Coup d'etat", in the recording of which foreign performers participated, including the Grammy award winner Missy Elliot.

The public saw Kwon Ji Young's next solo album only in 2017, but the result was worth the expectations. "Kwon Ji Yong" is hardly a disc - this work by G-Dragon shattered even the release format. The album came out in the form of a USB flash drive, on which, moreover, there was no direct recording of tracks - thanks to the drive, listeners got to the album download page from the YG Entertainment website.

Due to the non-standard form of the release, the album was excluded from participation in the Gaon chart, and the appearance of the flash drive caused another scandal. Users considered that its “scratched” appearance was the result of the carelessness of the manufacturing company. I had to record a special video demonstrating the process of painting the flash drive: the shabby appearance was not negligence, but a design idea.

The songs from "Kwon Ji Yong" are distinguished by the depth of the lyrics and some rigidity, noticeable even in the names of the compositions: "Middle Fingers-Up", "Bullshit". Ji Young cited Kobo Abe's work, The Divine Comedy and The Truman Show as the sources of inspiration for the album.

Since its release, "Kwon Ji Yong" has become the leader of iTunes in 46 countries, a performance that no Korean musician had ever achieved before G-Dragon. On June 10, 2017, Kwon Ji Young embarked on his second world tour, during which he visited 29 cities in Asia, the United States, Europe and Oceania, and the total number of spectators at the concerts was 654 thousand people. Before G-Dragon, musicians from Korea did not undertake concert tours of this magnitude, so the singer went beyond the standards in this area.
