Biography
The young New Zealand actor KJ Apa made his debut in 2014, in the hit soap Shortland Street . He plays the role of Kane Jenkins, a student who has a romantic relationship with his sports teacher.
The production of Riverdale - the CW series inspired by the Archie Comics comics - has been looking for many months for an actor capable of playing Archie Andrews on screen. While the auditions are not a success, Apa manages to get noticed. On the day of the casting, he dyed his hair red, started playing the guitar and performed "Mary had a little lamb" by Stevie Ray Vaughan, to stick more to the character.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa then entrusts him with the role of Archie alongside Cole Sprouse in the teen drama . KJ Apa becomes fond of the character when reading the script. They both have a lot in common. Archie is the star of the high school and, like his performer, he is torn between soccer and a college scholarship and his passion for music. The series tells the dark stories of a quiet small town in the United States which sees its daily life turned upside down by the mysterious death of Jason Blossom. Little by little, each other's secrets come to the surface.
