Wilde's third and fourth albums, Catch As Catch Can (released in 1983, and never released in the United States of America) and Teases & Dares (1984), failed to re-raise the girl to the star Olympus. However, some songs such as Love Blonde, Rage To Love and The Second Time have gained popularity with British audiences.

The singer decided to radically correct the resulting stagnation in her creative life - in 1984 she left RAK Records and signed a new contract with the large-scale American corporation MCA. After 2 years, Kim somehow managed to regain the lost popularity after the release of the dance version of the old hit of the American group Supremes called You Keep Me Hangin 'On. The song peaked at # 2 in the UK and # 1 in the United States.

Then came the 5th disc entitled Another Step, the next hit of which was the song of the same name Another Step (Closer To You), performed by Wilde in a duet with the soul singer Junior. The following year, the woman's work hit the charts again after she sang a Christmas song called Rockin 'Around Christmas Tree with comedian Mel Smith.

The end of 1988 became even more successful for Kim - in December her new album Close reached number 8 on the music charts, becoming the source of several top hits: Never Trust A Stranger, You Came and Four Letter Word.
