Kathy Bates is an actress from the theater, her first passion. She appeared for the first time in the cinema in 1971 in Taking Off by Milos Forman, it was not until several years before seeing her again on the big screen, the actress preferring to devote herself to the theater at first. Since that time, Kathy Bates has always played prestigious supporting roles in famous productions, such as Diabolique with Sharon Stone and Isabelle Adjani in 1996 or Primary Colors in 1998, a film for which she was again nominated at the Oscars.

Considered an excellent actress in Hollywood, she has also become one of the favorite actresses of spectators around the world for having played the sympathetic Molly Brown in Titanic in 1997. Faced with this growing popularity, she becomes a sure bet: in 2002, she is at the poster of four films, including American Outlaws with Colin Farrell, and especially Monsieur Schmidt where she introduced Jack Nicholson to the joys of the jacuzzi for two. Her imposing silhouette perfectly suits the character of Queen Victoria in Around the World in 80 Days, released in 2004. In 2016, Kathy plays the benevolent Maime Trotter and takes under her wing a rebellious teenager in The Fabulous Gilly Hopkins. She then plays Billy Bob Thornton's mother in Bad Santa 2, the sequel to the 2004 cult comedy. The actress appears in the Feud and The Big Bang Theory series (she plays Ms. Fowler in season 12). In 2019, she illustrated herself in the guise of feminist lawyer Dorothy Kenyon in Une femme d'exception then filmed under the direction of Xavier Dolan in My Life with John F. Donovan.

The actress plays Bobi Jewell, mother of Richard, the security guard at the center of the film.
