From that moment on, Karen decided to work as a solo artist and came up with the pseudonym MØ. The girl began to write rap, but eventually switched to pop songs. Very soon the producer Ronnie Vindall became interested in her work. Oersted herself wrote the lyrics and melodies (she composed them mainly on the piano) and sent them to a man who brought the compositions "to mind."

Vindall helped create the debut single "Glass", and 2 months later the singer presented the hit songs "Pilgrim" and "Maiden". Her songs, one after another, began to lead the popular Danish and American charts, and leading labels became interested in her person.

She could not refuse the offer from the recording studio Sony Music Entertainment. They liked the artist the way she is, the company representatives were not going to change her image or songs and offered to promote with her own material.

Her first solo mini-album appeared in October 2013, it was called "Bikini Daze" and contained only 4 songs. In April, the musicians shot a video for the single, which quickly conquered YouTube viewers and gained several million views in the first week.

The artist went to shoot the video “Kamikaze” in Kiev, the single premiered in October 2015. As a location, the producers chose the well-known district of the Ukrainian capital - Troyeshchina. Subsequently, this song became a component of the second studio album, as well as the composition "Final Song". Swedish singer Nuni Bao and Briton MNEK helped to compose it. In the UK charts, the track took 15th place and entered the top 40 of the best in more than 10 countries.

In 2016, MØ was again fortunate enough to work with Major Lazer and Justin Bieber, with them she created another single "Cold Water", which debuted at # 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Not having time to properly enjoy the success of her own work, in October of that the same year, the singer released the song "Drum" again.

Already in October 2017, he presented the second mini-disc “When I Was Young”, and after 2 weeks he shot a video for the song of the same name. His idea was based on the painting "Dance of Life" by Edvard Munch. Next, the artist will tour North America with the Norwegian musician Cashmere Cat.

The fans saw the second full-length album only in the fall of 2018.
