Director: Jake Casdan

Actors: Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Aquafina, Reese Darby, Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, Morgan Turner, Rory McCann, Ser’Darius Blaine

Jumanji: The Next Level has been produced with the budget of Budget: $125 million, Worldwide fees: $791 million.

Therefore, "Jumanji: A New Level" does not exploit the great ideas that are inherent in this series with insufficient force, because the standard adventure line is good, but cannot offer a more intelligible elaboration of the escapist's fantasy as a way out of depression. The creators of "Jumanji" do not even try to pretend that they do not care and that they are not interested in anything other than money. And this is not honesty, it is the audacity of a thief who takes a purse from your pocket, looking straight into your eyes and talking teeth with jokes ... Alexey Litovchenko “Jumanji” has no second layer - this is a flabby film from lazy special effects replaying actors, scenic white noise, and annoying chatter of computer spawn.

Jumanji: The Next Level Review

Spencer (Alex Wolfe) is studying and working in New York. In his relationship with girlfriend Martha (Morgan Turner) is planned to break up. They have taken a pause, Spencer loses confidence, and it is clear that love from a distance usually passes quickly.

At Christmas, Spencer returns to the city of his childhood to meet the other three guys - Bethany (Madison Iceman), Fridge (Ser'Darius Blaine), and Martha, with whom he some time ago experienced all sorts of adventures inside the video game "Jumanji".

In his house, Spencer discovers his grandfather Eddie (Danny DeVito): the old man recently had hip surgery, he hardly walks, but Eddie categorically refuses any help and fills the entire space.

Spencer is in complete depression and, in order to cope with it somehow, decides to go back to the game "Jumanji", where his character was Dr. Smulder Bravestone (Dwayne Johnson) - a strong and confident archaeologist, able to lead and motivate the whole team.

However, Spencer did not take into account that the toy is partially broken, so this time it does not allow her to choose a character, so in whose body will be a guy - he does not know. As a result, Spencer became Ming Fleett (Akvafina) - a combat Asian with hacking skills.

Meanwhile, Spencer's friends find out that their friend is back in "Jumanji" and decide to dive there - to save Spencer. However, it turns out that with them in the game avatars were also grandfather Eddie, and his sworn friend, former business partner Milo (Danny Glover), with whom Eddie broke up many years ago because Milo sold their restaurant.

In this case, Eddie got into the body of Smulder Bravestone, Milo was in the body of Franklin Finbar (Kevin Hart), zoologist, athlete Fridge, to his indignation, got into the body of a fat cartographer Sheldon Oberon (Jack Black), and Martha became Ruby Roundhouse (Karen Gillan) - a cool girl, a master of various martial arts.

Now, to get out of the game, they need to take away the stone "Falcon Heart" from the terrible villain Jorgen Cruel (Rory McCann).

***

I was funny. The first film "Jumanji" with Robin Williams, the kingdom of heaven, I, of course, watched - twenty-five years ago. I didn't even know that in 2017 he had a sequel to "Jumanji: The Call of the Jungle" with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, I didn't even know, that's something I missed. So when I came across the film "Jumanji: A New Level", I quite sincerely considered it a sequel and, having started to look, came to a slight bewilderment, because it is clearly a continuation of some story, but not at all the first "Jumanji". Well, the sequel and the sequel, I thought, I'll see, business.

It all started quite tediously. A dull loser Spencer who -- oh! - I'm not sure about myself and going through a break, I didn't have sympathy with Bublik, because we really have a problem with the lantern. However, here in the film appeared a gorgeous grandfather Eddie and everything became much more fun.

And then the characters moved in their avatars and went a fun adventure fun: without much trouble, but fun and spectacular.

Slightly marussiatic grandfather Eddie in the body of a big guy Smulder - it was really funny, and Dwayne Johnson in this role entertained very selflessly. He's a good comedian, I've seen that many times. Interestingly, Johnson began as the "new Schwarzenegger" and Arnie himself in "Amazon Treasure" even symbolically passed him the baton, but it quickly became clear that when Johnson seriously portrays himself as a hero, it all looks somehow tedious, so that the new Schwartz he will not become. But he understood it himself, and then played several frankly comedic roles (in "Be Cooler" he was just very good), and his action heroes became self-ironic and funny, which undoubtedly benefited them.

Well, here Johnson - just the decoration of the film: he and grandfather in the body of Bravestone portrays perfectly (and just as blooms grandfather, when he discovers that from one of his stroke a big guy can fly ten meters), and then, when the avatars again occur metamorphosis, he also looks good, though not so much fun.

About metamorphosis. In the previous film this did not happen, and here the creators of the picture not only instilled the characters in unusual avatars but also once again changed their places, so that the actors, in fact, had to portray different characters, which looked rather fresh.

Jack Black, who in any role is good always and everywhere, coolly portrayed the athlete in the body of a clumsy fat man, and then he had to portray a girl in the same body, and he coped with this difficult task perfectly.

I usually can hardly bear Kevin Hart, but here at least he did not irritate: the braking zoologist was moderately when insisted, and the screenwriters did not allow Hart to give a portion of his usual revelations about the peculiarities of his body, and this influenced the picture in the most life-giving way.

Karen Gillan looked decent in the role of strong-willed and determined, but she did not have to play two characters (well, spoiler, except for just a couple of minutes). But Aquafina - still as it was, and she did it well.

Some critics put the director in a rebuke line of two old men - Eddie and Milo, who with each other sort out the relationship about the quarrel hell know what the statute of limitations. And to me, this line did not seem superfluous, and even vice versa - it all looked quite touching, despite Kevin Hart.

From the point of view of special effects, the picture did not hit anything so special, but the race with ostriches in the desert was made quite briskly, and jumping on rope ladders race with monkeys looked tolerable, although the computer graphics there was, let's say, not five points.

By and large, looked with pleasure. Nothing much from this film did not expect, but as a funny attraction, allowing you to relax and relax, it makes quite a sense. Funny and interesting characters, good jokes, cheerful action, beautiful views - liked even more than I expected.
