Biography
Of English origin, Jovan Adepo grew up in the state of Maryland in the United States. After graduating in philosophy and political science, he moved to Los Angeles at the age of 23, where he aspired to become a writer. There, he took comedy lessons in order to shoot in commercials that allowed him to make ends meet. He gradually developed a passion for the profession and continued his apprenticeship, especially with Viola Davis whom he met through his sister who attended the same church as him in Maryland.
A decisive encounter in his career since he gave him the answer in his first studio film in 2016. Entitled Fences, it is the adaptation of a play hailed by critics. Jovan Adepo plays the youngest son of Viola Davis and Denzel Washington, who also officiates on the film as a director.
His career then blossomed on television: we saw him in The Leftovers, in the second season of Jack Ryan and in Sorry For Your Loss, a show broadcast on the Facebook Watch platform. But it is the cinema that allows him to star in a production: after an appearance in the controversial Mother !, he is confronted with Nazis and strange creatures in Overlord, a production by JJ Abrams which mixes film action and horror. Eager to shine in various registers, he also plays in the theater and is a member of the prestigious Robey Theater Company.
