fact
Childhood and youth
Joe Bonamassa was born on May 8, 1977 in the American city of New Hartford, located in the state of New York. The family, where great-grandfather, grandfather and father were inextricably linked with music, determined the further fate of the boy, who took up the guitar at the age of 4.
In the house with a rich music library, blues melodies were constantly played by Steve Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Peter Green and others. In addition, Bonamassa's ancestors owned a musical instrument shop. The boy got his first adult guitar when he was 7 years old, it was a raspberry Fender Stratocaster, which received the affectionate nickname "Rosie". Joe masterfully copied the performances of the great performers, repeating complex passages and intricate riffs.
At school, Bonamassa formed his own band called Smokin 'Joe Bonamassa, which performed in western New York and Pennsylvania, visited Scranton and Buffalo and soon received the honor of supporting the great BB King. The dark-skinned master of guitar solo was delighted with the style and technique of the young performer, met the boy several times and took a number of historical photos.
In the mid-90s, Joe took part in a series of events organized by the American corporation Fender and met a young representative of the musical family Oakley Berry Jr.
This meeting became one of the key moments in the biography of Bonamassa and played an important role in determining the further stage career of the guitarist. The young men created the Bloodline group, which, despite the lack of resounding success and popularity, brought Joe into the adult musical world.

Music
In 2000, Bonamassa recorded his debut album, A New Day Yesterday. The album included both the original tunes and cover versions of songs by Rory Gallagher, Warren Haynes and Jethro Tull. Thanks to the talent of producer Tom Dowd and guest input from keyboardist / vocalist Gregg Allman, the album became a success and reached # 9 on the Billboard charts in the Blues category.
The following records So, It's Like That, Blues Deluxe and Had to Cry Today, released between 2002 and 2006, climbed to the top of the American charts and received flattering reviews from critics, who called Bonamassa's albums the best traditional blues releases.
In 2006, the guitarist presented to the public a new creation, You & Me, which became another studio work, topping the Billboard Top Blues Albums. The music site Allmusic gave the album 3.5 out of 5 stars and named it the best of the artist's released works.
The album traditionally consisted of original songs and reworkings, recorded in collaboration with bassist Carmine Rojas and Led Zeppelin drummer Jason Bonham.
Three years after the release of You & Me, Bonamassa made his childhood dream come true and performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London, playing a duet with British rock musician Eric Clapton. And in 2012, the musician released a live album Bonamassa Beacon Theater – Live from New York, recorded together with another guitarist idol Paul Rogers, a member of the Free and Bad Company projects.
On March 26, 2013, Bonamassa's acoustic performance An Acoustic Evening at the Vienna Opera House was released on CD, DVD and blu-ray discs, becoming the first show where the musician did not use electronics. Joe played 3 concerts with the team assembled by producer Kevin Shirley, the last of which took place at the famous Beacon Theater in New York.
In the summer of the same year, the performer organized 4 performances in London, distinguished by an original set of songs that covered the main directions of Bonamassa's work, and by attracting a large number of popular musicians. The shows were recorded on DVD and released under the Tour de Force title in the fall of 2013.
In the early 2010s, Joe saw several television shows featuring American singer Beth Hart, who had previously supported the famous Scorpions. Bonamassa was impressed by the vocalist's performance at the Blue Balls festival in Switzerland and decided to try to record a joint project. Beth immediately accepted the offer of cooperation when she found out that the musician invites her to perform songs in a duet, and not be limited to the role of a backing vocalist.
Together with producer Bonamassa, the singers selected their favorite songs, which became the basis for the future album. The release of Don't Explain, recorded at J&R Adventures, took place on September 27, 2011. The result of the joint work was getting into the Billboard Three and high places in the European charts. Seesaw's 2nd album, recorded in 2013, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Blues Album.
After that, Bonamassa returned to his solo career and replenished his discography with the disc Different Shades of Blue, which included original compositions co-written with Jonathan Kane, James House and Jerry Flowers. And in May 2015, the musician received a Blues Music Award in the category "Best Guitarist".
In 2016, the critically acclaimed Blues of desperation was released, and in 2018 the equally successful album Redemption was recorded, illustrated with a series of video clips.

The couple's relationship was so strong that friends and family did not doubt that the lovers would soon get married. However, in 2015, Joe broke up with a potential fiancée, who soon recovered her personal life by marrying a young man named Matt and becoming the mother of his child.
According to official information, Bonamassa is now single, and his only girlfriend is the guitar. He is passionate about work and is not going to acquire a wife and children in the near future. Joe is a renowned collector of musical equipment with rarities such as a 1954 Gibson Les Paul, a 1952 Fender Telecaster by Terry Reed and many more.
In addition, the performer is a partner of the "Foundation for the Support and Development of the Blues", which finances students and teachers who have the desire, but no resources to realize their creative potential.
