Biography
Jessica Barden began her acting career in 1999 in an episode of the British sitcom My Cosmic Parents. The young woman participates thereafter in the series No Angels and The Chase then obtains a recurring role in the soap Coronation Street in 2007. She embodies the character of Kayleigh Morton.
After 72 episodes, Jessica left the show and had her first memorable film experience in Tamara Drew, starring in Gemma Arterton, under the direction of Stephen Frears. In 2011, the young actress crosses paths with Saoirse Ronan and Eric Bana in Hanna, the story of a teenage girl raised far from everything by her father, Erik, a former CIA agent.
In 2015, Jessica shines in the period film Far from the Unchained Crowd. Set in the English countryside of the Victorian era, the work tells the story of a young heiress, Bathsheba Everdeene, who was to run the farm bequeathed by her uncle. The actress crosses paths with Carey Mulligan and Matthias Schoenaerts, under the leadership of Thomas Vinterberg. She's also the nosebleed woman in Yorgos Lanthimos' disturbing The Lobster.
The British then stood out in season 3 of the horror series Penny Dreadful by obtaining the role of Justine in 2016. The following year, Jessica was revealed by another series, The End of The Fucking World. The show tells the story of an aspiring psychopathic teenager (Alex Lawther) and a rebel (Jessica Barden) in search of adventure. They embark on a hellish road trip in this dark humor series inspired by a graphic novel.
