As a result, the athlete, who gave up all his strength to recover from his injury, was forced to refuse to participate in the upcoming World Championships, which were held in Russia. During the short forced break Jacob did not lose his sports form: his height is 185 cm, and the weight of 75 kg.

It took Yakov a year to recover from his injury, and in 2012 he represented Slovenia at the World Biathlon Championships. In the mixed relay, the Slovenians crossed the finish line 8.2 seconds earlier than the athletes from Norway, but the athletes shared silver medals among themselves. But two days later Jacob won the individual race. This is how Slovenia won a gold medal at the Biathlon World Championships for the first time.

Free from training Jacob spends at home in the company of his beloved wife Matea Korenich and long-awaited daughter Mia. Matea is Jacob's civil wife, who is officially a single biathlete.

In the autumn morning Jacob went to a scheduled training session, where he was bitten by a wasp on the lip, the athlete's whole face swollen. And in the afternoon there was a gynecological examination of Matea, where the couple was informed that the baby would be born within a few hours.
