Ivan Makhalov, aka Czar, is a Russian rapper who grew up in Germany in a family of immigrants. Starting with songs in German, the musician gradually created compositions in Russian. The main characteristic of the Tsar's creativity can be called provocative content and the abundant use of Russian mat. Nevertheless, Ivan occupies not the last place in modern Russian rap culture, and his work attracts more and more fans.

Ivan Dmitrievich Makhalov (this is actually the name of the musician) was born in the city of Bor, Nizhny Novgorod region on February 27, 1984 in the family of an engineer and teacher of German. In the mid-1990s, the parents separated, and the future rapper, along with his mother and sisters, left for Germany.

As a child, Ivan was fond of basketball and the art of graffiti. Injury put an end to his sports hobbies - the young man fell unsuccessfully, broke his elbow and could no longer play. After leaving school, Ivan entered the construction college, where he studied for 3 years. For a while, Czar even worked as a builder, but admits that his studies did not give anything - in the end, he still became a rapper.

Ivan took a long time to take the pseudonym Czar: at first he called himself M. Mecker - it looked like the name of the famous pimp M. Messer. As a teenager, the future musician met another Russian-born Artem Frank - now he is known as rapper 1.Kla $.

Young people began to record the first compositions, and at first - exclusively in German, although Ivan sometimes inserted lines in Russian into the tracks. A feature of Czar's early work was the harsh texts of content unacceptable in society, the sample for which was classical music.

In 2000, 2 years after the start of cooperation with Artem, Ivan, together with 1.Kla $, won a battle tournament, which brought young people the first money in their biography, earned by creativity. The guys received 4 thousand DM (in modern terms it is about € 2 thousand), the guys spent on the arrangement of their first recording studio. Two more years later, Artem and Ivan recorded their first album in German "Weiß Blau Rot".

By 2007, the musician changed his pseudonym and began to be called Tsar (there are two ways of writing in Latin: Zarj and Czar). After that, together with 1.Kla $, Ivan recorded the album "Your Mother", the lyrics of which featured a large amount of Russian obscene language. The song "I want" is a typical example of the Tsar's creativity at that time.

Also, the young people organized the RW association. The abbreviation could be deciphered in two ways: as Rap Woyska or Rotenburg Wümme - the city where Ivan lives. Later, Schokk, another German rapper from the USSR, joined the association.

In 2009, Ivan released the Dirty Tongue mixtape. A year later, "Rap Woyska" left Schokk, and disagreements between the musicians led to a long-term "beef" - this is the term for conflicts between hip-hop culture figures. However, later the artists settled the contradictions and in 2018 even recorded a joint track "Another Tornado".

In the spring of 2001, Ivan and Artem became the winners of the popular vote on the Plusok.ru website in the "Best Rapper" category, and the album "Your Mother - 2" on hip-hop.ru was in the top ten. However, after that 1.Kla $ announced his retirement, and "Rap Woyska" ceased to exist.

After the collapse of the association, Czar collaborated for some time with the Ginex collective and rapper KRA. With the latter, Ivan even went on a joint tour and planned to record an album, but this never happened. In 2012, an Internet voting was launched in Russia to determine who the audience wants to see on the stage of a concert in honor of Russia Day.

Czar was one of the winners and was even invited to the event. However, shortly before the concert, his performance was canceled. On this occasion, together with Shot, who found himself in a similar situation, the rapper recorded the song "On the Day of Russia" and made an appeal to boycott the event.

In 2013, Ivan recorded the album "Not Format", and was also defeated in Versus Battle against Harry Ax. In 2014, the rapper was again supposed to participate in Versus Battle, this time in Kiev, but the event was canceled due to the political situation in Ukraine.

Ivan's next disc was released in 2017. This was not a new work: in “Divers est. 1999” the musician collected old compositions that he created at the very beginning of his work. The return of Czar to the modern popular rap culture took place in 2018: Ivan took part in the creation of the album "PARA", which was well received by domestic network rap resources.

Despite the tough image and very specific texts, Ivan is an exemplary family man in his personal life. His wife's name is Tatiana, she lives with her husband in the German city of Rothenburg-na-Wumme. In 2015, the couple had a son, Christopher, and in September 2018, Czar announced that he would soon have two children - Tatiana is pregnant with her second son.

Ivan's numerous tattoos are of great interest. The musician made his first tattoo at the age of 18 - these are the words of Macky Mecker on his left shoulder. On the knuckles of his right hand is the current pseudonym of the musician Czar. Also on Ivan's body there was a place for devils playing the violin, and the inscription Phoenix.

The last rapper, he said, did during the depression. Czar filled the Catholic rosary with a cross so that the Almighty was always with him, and the feather on his forearm means that Ivan independently writes the texts of his compositions.
