From an early age, the girl loved poetry and wrote poetry herself, being a creative and vulnerable nature. Despite the love and understanding in the family, in Ira the desire to go their own way grew stronger. The parents had their own vision of happiness for their daughter: an indispensable university education in a serious, firm ground under the feet of the specialty. The girl dreamed of a creative profession, wanting to become an actress. As a child, Irina took vocal lessons from a teacher Irina Malakhova.

After graduating from school, Irina entered the philosophy faculty of Moscow State University, from which she graduated with honors in 1992. In parallel with her studies at the university, Bogushevskaya did what her heart was in: she wrote songs, played in the student theater, participated in creative associations.

The girl began to seriously study music in the Moscow studio of the popular duet "Iwasi", organized by the songwriters Alexei Ivaschenko and Georgy Vasiliev. Irina gave concerts in the evenings, and in the daytime she worked as a presenter at a radio station.

The time after graduation fell on the "dashing 90s", and earning a living teaching philosophy turned out to be problematic. Here, the girl used her creative skills, and it turned out that the “frivolous” profession of a singer and actress may well feed a person. Since then, Irina did not return to philosophy, although hard times fell out when she could not work anywhere, and she had to make ends meet.

Having started her concert activity in her student years, Irina already then declared herself as a distinctive and talented singer. She performed both solo and as part of creative associations, for example, with the "Accident" group. The collective was founded by first-year students of Moscow State University Valdis Pelsh and Alexey Kortnev, with whom Irina has a family and creative union. Together they took part in student performances and wrote music for them, touring with the repertoire in the country and abroad.

In 1993, the collective performs at the Andrei Mironov song contest, and Irina takes the main prize there. In the same year, a drama takes place in the singer's life: a woman gets into a car accident and says goodbye to music for 2 years. Having restored her health, in 1995 Bogushevskaya presents a solo project, for which she herself writes music and poetry. It becomes a solo performance "Waiting Room", with which Irina performs on the stage of the Student Theater of Moscow State University.

The singer remained non-media and well-known in narrow circles until in 1998 she was invited to sing during the musical breaks at the games “What? Where? When?" in Neskuchny Garden. Naturally, with the release of the air, admirers of Bogushevskaya's work increased. In the same period, the performer released her first solo album, The Book of Songs, based on the Waiting Hall musical. Andrey Makarevich, musicians of "Accident" and "Kvartal" took part in the presentation of the disc.

Irina Bogushevskaya gathers a small but devoted audience of thoughtful listeners who are captivated by her personality. She mixes styles and trends in her work, combining pre-war retro and theatrical jazz, author's song and cabaret rock in her compositions. At the same time, it remains lyrical, confessional and touching. The songs “Angel of my sorrow”, “In my universe” have become her trademark.

The album "Easy People" was released in 2000 and included 9 new songs. And in 2005 the disc "Tender Things" was released, where the listener got acquainted with such pearls of female lyrics as "In Our Paradise", "Race with the Wave" and "Tender Autumn".

The theme of love is one of the central themes in the author's work, and Silk, released in 2010, is addressed to those who, at least once, have experienced a deep, transforming feeling. On this disc the compositions "Reed" and "Welcome Home" were performed. In 2011 and 2014, Bogushevskaya produced the projects "Playground" No. 1 and No. 2, and in 2015 she recorded the album "Dolls".

The lyrics of Bogushevskaya are a noticeable phenomenon in post-Soviet culture. After the release of the Book of Songs album, Irina was accepted into the ranks of the Writers' Union of Russia, recognizing the author's outstanding poetic talent and her ability to build intimate, deeply personal worlds and spaces in her texts.

The first husband of Irina was Alexey Kortnev - student love from the times of Moscow State University. Young people were united by tender feelings and a common creative deed, therefore, even after parting, they maintained a strong bond. In 1988, the couple had a son, Artemy. In an interview, the singer admits that the first motherhood was difficult: she had to combine study, work and caring for the boy, whose upbringing was mainly carried out by Bogushevskaya's parents. Therefore, the relationship with her son developed rather friendly, which Irina, however, does not regret.

For 12 years, the woman lived with correspondent Leonid Golovanov, and in this union in 2002, a son, Daniel, was born. After parting, Irina was going to enjoy freedom, engage in self-development and raise children alone, but fate decreed otherwise. At that moment, when she had already lost faith that happiness in her personal life was possible, she met Alexander Abolits, a longtime admirer of her talent. The man is a biologist by profession, and Irina shares his passion for animals and nature.

Now the singer continues to engage in creativity and perform with infrequent, and therefore especially valuable concerts. For June 2019, a large solo album by Irina Bogushevskaya was announced, which will be held on the stage of the Pyotr Fomenko Workshop Theater.
