Ildar grew up at a time when motives of thieves were popular in the courtyards and houses of ordinary townspeople. Chanson was somehow present in the life of everyone who lived on the outskirts. The atmosphere of Moscow courtyards and streets was conducive to the perception of this genre, and thieves' romance had a unique flair. The pseudonym Yuzhny appeared in the artist's creative biography thanks to Sergei Burmistrov. In 1996, the Maryina Roshcha group released their first album. The disc was named "Black Kitty". The songs "Jar with Chifir" and "Fly, Pigeons" became real hits. The first success prompted the group to continue their creative activity, and in 1997 the album Boyars of the Dome went on sale. Despite the strong sales figures, it happened that the group broke up.

Yuzhny managed to revive the collective in 2000. The new line-up of the ensemble boldly started recording the third album "Everything was". The group began to give concerts and give tours in Russian cities. The collective consisted of vocalist Ildar Yuzhny, as well as musicians Vladimir Baranov, who played the guitar, and Gennady Lomonosov, who was involved in arranging, playing the button accordion and keyboards.

A pleasant achievement was the performance of Ildar Yuzhny at the festival of chanson "Star Blizzard - 2000". The artist took the stage with Mikhail Shufutinsky, Lyubov Uspenskaya and other masters of the chanson genre.
