Igor Khakimzyanov

Igor Khakimzyanov spent almost a month as the first defense minister of the unrecognized Donetsk People's Republic. He is known for actively participating in the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, was arrested for six months by the Ukrainian authorities, and is now running for the post of head of the republic.

Igor was born in the city of Makeevka, Donetsk region in the summer of 1980. His biography, or rather his childhood and adolescence, is not much different from the life of other children living in the eastern part of Ukraine.
