At the time when there were no mobile phones, and landlines were a rarity, my parents met. They went out - to a restaurant, to the cinema, for a walk. Once my father bought theater tickets and positioned himself to wait for his boyfriend on the sidewalk in the middle of winter. My mother arrives with a temperature of 40 degrees and pale as a mortal. There was no way she could call that she was ill. My father, of course, took her home immediately, but then he said to himself, "This girl is obviously extremely correct and she will make a wonderful wife." And so they get married. They were, in fact, extremely devoted to each other all their lives. Today, things are completely different - you can always call and explain the problem. If it was a personal commitment, that's exactly what I would do. But I'm currently writing from my desk at work. I caught a terrible virus and I have a temperature of 39 degrees, pain all over my body, vomiting and so on. But it so happened that one colleague was on leave, another had to travel urgently, and in the morning I almost crawled home, because there really was an urgent job. Sick of a love affair, I wouldn't go for three reasons. The first is that a person who is ill simply does not have the mood for conversation or anything and everyone has a boring time. Second, I don't look my best. And third, if it's a virus, I can infect a person. And one more thing: this seems pretty desperate. You're kind of ready to crutch with crutches just so you don't miss his empty cavalier. because there really was urgent work. Sick of a love affair, I wouldn't go for three reasons. If I have a high temperature and I am very sick, I will cancel the meeting. But then I'll call for a new one to see that it's not an excuse. I don't justify myself with diseases like a mouse. But many people do.
