Biography
Aida Vedishcheva, whose real name Ida Weiss is a Soviet and American singer, known to the Russian public as a performer of songs from old films and cartoons. The most popular compositions performed by Aida Vedishcheva were "Forest Deer", "Song of Bears", "Help Me" and "Lullaby of the Bear".
Ida was born in Kazan on the eve of the Great Patriotic War. Parents moved to this city from Kiev on service. The fact is that the girl's father, Solomon Iosifovich, was a professor of medicine and was invited to give lectures on dentistry at a local university. Subsequently, the works of Solomon Weiss were used as teaching aids in dentistry in medical universities in the country. Mother Elena Mitrofanovna Emelyanova, a surgeon by profession, was also directly related to medicine.
Ida grew up as an artistic, extraordinary girl. In early childhood, she was fond of dancing, sat on the twine. From the age of four she began to learn English, studying with a governess who arrived from Shanghai. Later, graduating from school, the girl chose English, which she did not officially study at school, and at the same time passed the exam perfectly.
When their daughter was 10 years old, the Weiss couple moved to Irkutsk. Ida, despite the profession of her parents, grew up surrounded by songs and creativity, since the relatives of her mother, who lived with the Weiss in the same apartment, played musical instruments perfectly and constantly arranged home concerts. Since childhood, the future pop star also fell in love with music. Ida graduated from a music school, began to play on stage at the local Youth Theater and at the Irkutsk Musical Theater.
At the insistence of her father and mother, the girl was forced to get higher education at the Institute of Foreign Languages. And although Aida Vedischeva studied there under the duress, the mastered English and German languages came in handy later. Nevertheless, feeling like an artist in her soul, Ida leaves for Moscow and submits documents to the Shchepkin Higher Theater School. The girl easily passed the multilevel exams, but at the last interview she was refused. The official reason was studying at the first institute.
Then Vedishcheva begins a singing career. Aida became a member of the Kharkiv and Oryol Philharmonic Societies, was a member of the orchestras of Oleg Lundstrem and Leonid Utesov, performed with the ensembles Meloton, Blue Guitars and the Singing Novels group.

Music
The singer's fame was gradually gaining momentum, and in 1966 they started talking about the artist throughout the Soviet Union. A comedy by Leonid Gaidai "Prisoner of the Caucasus" was released, in which the heroine of Natalya Varley sang a light romantic hit "A Song of Bears" in the voice of Aida Vedishcheva. For the sake of recording this song, the director summoned Vedischeva from the Far East, where the artist was on tour. The disc with this recording only in the early days was sold in the amount of 7 million copies.
But the Soviet authorities considered the musical composition vulgar. The young singer was made extreme, and not honored cultural workers (composer Alexander Zatsepin, poet Leonid Derbenev). After the release of the comedy on the screens, it turned out that Vedishcheva's name was not indicated in the credits. This was the first blow for Aida.
A year later, the solo composition "Geese, Geese" became a hit, which brought the young performer a place of diploma at the international music festival in Sopot, the Polish version of the later Eurovision Song Contest. Despite the conflict with the Soviet authorities, Aida was not afraid to go on stage and receive a well-deserved standing ovation.
The following musical composition - "The Volcano of Passions" from the movie "The Diamond Arm", which is also called "Help Me", was also popular. The film and the song went to the people, and the singer received another warning from the Ministry of Culture. On behalf of Ekaterina Furtseva, the artist received a telegram with the words "stop this disgrace."
The song "Comrade" became the anthem of the youth of the 70s, for the performance of which Aida Vedishcheva received an award from the Komsomol. The author of this hit, Oleg Ivanov, was then an ordinary medical student and himself brought notes to the famous singer for familiarization. Aida Vedishcheva was not afraid to perform a hit at the All-Union Competition for Young Composers, which was broadcast on the radio, and get first place for this. Later, the song was added to the repertoire of Lev Leshchenko.
Also added to the popularity of Aida were the songs "Forest Deer" from the comedy "Oh, this Nastya!" about the bear cub "Umka", "Road Song" from the movie "White Piano". But if the audience extolled the singer's talent to heaven, then the authorities constantly obstructed the artist.
The singer Vedischeva was excluded from the credits of films, was not allowed on television, and was limited to concerts. Moreover, when the hit "Forest Deer" became the winner in the popular program "Song of the Year", instead of Aida, the Great Children's Choir of the Central Television and All-Union Radio was invited to perform this composition. In the mid-70s, the name and photos of the artist completely disappeared from the posters, and the videotapes and magnetic recordings were demagnetized and destroyed. If Vedishcheva had not compiled her own archive-music library, then the famous songs would have been lost.
fact
Emigration
The main reason for the disfavor of the authorities towards Aida Vedishcheva was, as it turned out later, not so much Jewish origin, but a concert in the Polish city of Sopot. Just at that moment, Soviet troops entered the Czechoslovak capital Prague, and the singer did not support this aggression. Moreover, at the concert, Aida sang a song by Vladimir Shainsky, who was also in a state of cold war with the government of his own country.
Tired of constant humiliation and inability to work normally, Aida decides to leave her homeland. On the threshold of her fortieth birthday, the singer was not afraid to start a new stage in her creative biography. In 1980, Aida emigrates to the United States. This is where fluency in English comes in handy. The woman again sits down at her desk and studies at the theater college. Two years later, the artist made her debut with a solo program at Carnegie Hall. Aida Vedischeva was produced by Joe Franklin, who previously worked with Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand. It is interesting that after the move, the artist changed her hair color - together with the burning brunette Aida Vedishcheva, she dyed her hair blonde and remains her to this day.
Later, due to health problems, Aida Vedishcheva left New York and moved to California, where she founded her own theater. The artist took the pseudonym Amazing Aida (Amazing Aida) and managed to conquer a new country. In the new place, the artist often gave concerts at the fashionable Friers Club in Beverly Hills, where Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope had previously shone.
Aida Semyonovna became the first pop singer from Russia to conquer America unconditionally. In the 21st century, Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, members of the Tatu Group, will repeat this success, but the girls still perform in a different genre.
And Aida specialized in Broadway musicals, and wrote the music herself. The artist also performed Russian and Gypsy romances, Jewish folk songs. Vedischeva's repertoire included hits in both English and Russian, these are songs of the late period "Ballad of Chernobyl", "Old Garden", "I'll be back, Moscow!", "Life is music", "Christmas". In addition, Aida penned the musical "Masterpiece and Singing Freedom", dedicated to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.
Songs performed by Aida Vedischeva in the Soviet Union were released on large discs and minions. The artist released the only disc in retro style in 2002 and called it “Somewhere in the world”. The album includes 18 tracks already loved by the public. Later, clips began to appear, in which frames from films and concert chronicles of the 60-70s were used.

Personal life
The first time Ida Weiss got married at the age of 20. The singer's wife was a circus performer, acrobat Vyacheslav Vedishchev. The husband gave Aida a new surname, and the girl herself added one letter to the name in order to try to avoid the anti-Semitic sentiments that then reigned in the leadership of the Sovgosconcert. In her first marriage, Aida had an only child - a son, Vladimir. But with Vyacheslav, the artist's life did not work out, since the young were different people.
The second husband Boris Dvernik worked as a pianist and directed the Meloton ensemble, in which the singer performed. Despite the fact that Aida was 9 years older, the couple got along well and parted already on the other side of the ocean. Moreover, the artist still cannot explain even to herself why. Dvernik later committed suicide.
When Vedischeva was 45 years old, the singer remarried. The new chosen one was the millionaire Jay Markaff, a Pole by birth, 15 years older than her. The first years Aida enjoyed the rest, but then she wanted to return to her singing career. The husband was against, the union cracked at the seams, and they parted. True, the divorce proceedings were difficult and lasted three years.
In the early 90s, doctors discovered third-degree cancer in the famous singer. This is an advanced stage, and Vedishcheva was not recommended to undergo surgery. But Aida, supported by only one friend, Israeli businessman Naim Bedjim, insisted on her own. The singer underwent surgery, underwent a course of chemotherapy, and as a result, the disease was defeated. After the tragic events she experienced, Vedishcheva married the one who was with her all this time - Naim Bedjim. The couple are still happy together.
