He obviously wants things to go well. Don't hold back. Just go out when you can. When he feels ready, he will take serious action. Now enjoy the current development. Don't expect anything from him. If you have high expectations of him and they are not met, then you will be disappointed and it is not pleasant to be disappointed. Let it flow. If things need to develop, they will develop if not - no. Accept the situation as it is.
