Biography
HI-FI is a Russian pop group from the nineties. One of the few who managed to collect the old line-up on one stage after many years and carry on a unique style of performance over the years.
fact
Composition
In 1998 Pavel Yesenin and Erik Chanturia became the founders of a new musical project. The exact date of creation is August 2, 1998. On this day, work began on the first video clip "Not given".
The members of the group were Mitya Fomin, Timofey Pronkin and Oksana Oleshko. Initially, one of its founders, composer and arranger Pavel Yesenin, claimed the role of the band's soloist. However, he abandoned this idea, not wanting to change his main activity to frequent tours with an irregular schedule. Mitya Fomin became the central figure of HI-FI.
It is interesting that the members of the group had never communicated with each other until the moment of its foundation. Fomin studied in Novosibirsk at the Medical University, and then moved to the capital to apply for admission to VGIK. At this time, fate brought him together with Yesenin and Chanturia.
In an interview for the Internet portal Starhit.ru, Mitya said that his acquaintance with future HI-FI participants in 1998 did not inspire confidence. Different strangers cannot achieve anything in show business, Fomin thought. Soon, the HI-FI frontman gained incredible popularity. During the ten years of his work with the group, four albums were released.
Oksana Oleshko joined the team also at the invitation of the producers. Ksenia is a ballet dancer by profession. She came to Moscow from sunny Tbilisi, worked in ballets of such stars as Dmitry Malikov, Oleg Gazmanov, Andrei Gubin, Nikolai Karachentsov. In 1998, Oksana met Eric Chanturia, who offered to participate in the HI-FI group. Despite the fact that Oleshko never studied vocals professionally, she accepted the producer's offer.
For the girl, this project turned out to be an opportunity to discover new facets in herself and be creative: Oksana wrote the lyrics for the songs of Chanturia's ward, Batyrkhan, and also appeared on the cover of Playboy.
Like the rest of the participants, Timofey Pronkin was not associated with music before joining HI-FI. As a professional dancer, he knew what the stage was, but he never did vocals. By the way, Timofey is seriously passionate about design and opened a printing services company.

Music
Until 2003, the HI-FI group released many songs that became hits ("Song of the Princess", "Brother", "He", "I Love", "Black Raven", "Seventh Petal"). The clips have become chart winners on Russian music channels more than once. In 2002, a video for the song "The Seventh Petal" was released. The original version of the song existed in English. The chorus for the Russian version was written by Zemfira.
Already in 1999, HI-FI received the first Golden Gramophone award for the song Black Raven. The songs “Follow me” in 2010, “And we loved” in 2002 and “The seventh petal” in 2004 won the same prize.
In 2003, Oksana Oleshko announced her decision to leave the stage. This applied not only to the HI-FI group, but also to show business in general. The ex-vocalist of the pop group gave preference to family life. Oleshko married the soloist of the Na-Na group, Vladimir Levkin, but the marriage broke up. Oksana's second husband was businessman Anton Petrov. The singer gave birth to two daughters to him, but this time there was a divorce. Father of the third child, son of Oksana, businessman Sergei Tsvitnenko.
In the same 2003, the producers found a replacement for Oleshko. Tatyana Tereshina became the new soloist of HI-FI for two years. But later she left the group, pursuing a solo career. After Tereshina left, the group members changed periodically. Among them: Katya Li, Olesya Lipchanskaya, Marina Drozhdina.
2005 was marked for the group with a victory at the Muz-TV Prize in the nomination “The most fashionable group”. This is the largest award in the history of the band.
In 2009, Mitya Fomin left the HI-FI group. Now he has a solo career. The producers decided to replace the soloist with Kirill Kolgushkin. The new soloist could not become the leader of the collective, this privilege went to Timofey Pronkin.
During his solo career, Mitya Fomin achieved no less success than the legendary pop group. A year after working outside the band, the video "Everything will be fine" was shot. The audience appreciated Fomin's work, and soon the song was playing on the top lines of radio charts.
In addition, the singer worked on the hit “Everything will be fine” thoroughly: he was the director. The song brought Mitya an award from the Golden Gramophone. In 2010, the first album "It Will Be So" was released. Also, Mitya Fomin began to work as a TV presenter for Muz-TV.
In 2012, Vyacheslav Samarin came to replace Kolgushkin. Although he left the team in the same year, he managed to make an unbearable contribution. He wrote several songs for the band. They shot a video for the track "Don't Leave". From 2016 to 2018, HI-FI existed as a duet of Timofey Pronkin and Marina Drozhdina.
The girl was previously familiar with the work of the group, but she does not call herself a fan: she admired either the quality of the vocals or the choreography. When I got into the team, I didn't have to get used to the stage and learn the words of the songs: Marina knew each of them by heart, so the group became cult at that time.
fact
HI-FI now
Each of the HI-FI performers builds a career and conquers show business. Most of the performers have a solo career, and some have left show business altogether.
For 10 years, there was no news about the HI-FI group, although Timofey Pronkin and Marina Drozhdina still gave concerts. Stars can be invited to cooperate, their contact details are on the official website and on Instagram. There are also photos and video reports from concerts, and addresses to fans.
In April 2018, HI-FI was the gold medalist at the Olimpiyskiy. Mitya Fomin, Timofey Pronkin, Oksana Oleshko 20 years later again found themselves on the same stage and performed their favorite hits.
At the same event, "Reckless Scammers", Eva Polna and "Hands Up" performed. In an interview with reporters, Mitya Fomin keeps the intrigue, but hints that the HI-FI meeting was not accidental and that fans might have a new song or even an album.
Apart from the three permanent performers, Marina Drozhdina took the stage. Later, the singer shared with the media that viewers did not react to her appearance as violently as the original HI-FI lineup, but this is not a reason for upset. Marina has plans to stay in the group for a long time.
