There is not a single creative sphere that a young man would not conquer: he is a singer, musician, actor, composer, dancer and model. In every field, Lau achieved success, but music brought him great popularity.

Henry Lau was born on October 11, 1989 in Toronto - the largest city in Canada, the administrative center of the province of Ontario. However, the place of birth did not hide his true nationality - Lau inherited Hong Kong roots from his father, and Taiwanese from his mother.

Henry grew up with his sister Whitney and brother Clinton. The girl won the Miss Toronto Asian competition in 2013, and the young man received a classical music education and now, together with Henry, runs the agency Monster Entertainment Group.

Lau early became addicted to creativity. At the age of 5, his mother taught him to play the piano, and at 6 - the violin. In 2005, the young man himself mastered the electric violin. For his skills, Henry was awarded the distinction of the Royal Conservatory of Music - the highest educational institution for music in Toronto.

Lau changed 5 schools before auditioning for SM Entertainment, Korea's talent production pipeline in 2006. The young man played a piece by Vivaldi, danced in fast passages, and sang a cappella in slow ones. Among the 3,000 members, SM Entertainment only selected two young talents, and one of them was Henry. Parents insisted on a classical music education, but Lau opted for K-pop. He said:

In September 2007, Henry Lau made his debut in the South Korean group Super Junior's MV for the song Don't Don. The young man composed the musical part himself. After the video premiered, SM Entertainment announced that Lau would be a member of the Super Junior-M sub-unit.

The band began their ascent with the song U and the album Me (2008). The guys made themselves known again with the release of the EP Super Girl (2009). The compilation won a dozen awards and even earned Super Junior-M a Best Vocal Group nomination at the 21st Golden Melody, the Chinese equivalent of a Grammy.

Super Junior fans didn't like Lau. They even launched a "only 13" campaign, which meant that the group couldn't have 14 members, so Henry often stayed behind the scenes. This gave him creative freedom.

In 2013, Lau made his big movie debut, starring in the drama The Ultimate Recipe. She tells the story of an aspiring chef who participates in an international chef show to save his grandfather's restaurant from bankruptcy. Later, in 2015, the young man starred in the dramas Don't Give Up Ku Hae-ra and Oh My Venus.

In the meantime, Super Junior-M has reborn with Break Down (2013). It includes songs Go and It's You, created by Noize Bank, Lau's production company.

In May 2013, Henry Lau became an independent artist. His mini-compilation Trap came out a month later, and Fantastic came out in July 2014. However, the single Girlfriend (2017) achieved the greatest popularity, reaching the top of several South Korean digital charts and number 3 on the Gaon Top. The track exposed Lau's piano and violin skills.

Lau's contract with SM Entertainment expired on April 30, 2018. The decision not to renew the relationship with the management became, perhaps, the most correct in the singer's biography.

The source of Henry Lau's dramatic songs is his personal life. The young man met love back in Canada. The guys dated for 7 years before breaking up. Not because the relationship has outlived its usefulness, but because the girl cheated on the singer with his best friend. Since then, Lau has been protecting his heart.
