He Lost Hope For Life At 19

The Story

Hi, I'm 16 girl. I have a 19-year-old brother. He has been interested in motorcycles since he was a child and over the years his interest in them has increased. At 16, he had already started driving with friends from time to time. When he turned 18 and took a book, he started working to buy a motorcycle and succeeded. He started driving every day and gradually became his way of life. Five months ago, while on the bike and with his friends again, he was involved in a serious accident. He was really driving at high speed when, trying to avoid a car, he hit the guardrail and jumped off his motorcycle. His friends and even random people rushed to help him, and he just lay there like a corpse. He called 112 and was soon taken to the emergency room, after which we received a call that my brother had an accident. We immediately went to the hospital, and he was in the operating room. No one wanted to tell us what his condition was. Fortunately, the operation was successful, but he could not feel his legs. He wanted to get up, but he couldn't, his eyes watered and he cried with helplessness. The doctor said that after he recovered from the operation he would start rehabilitation, but he simply lost hope. Rehabilitation has begun, and he is not even trying. He claims that he only wants to walk, but does not make any effort. He does not want to eat, he says that he does not want to live so that being disabled is not life, but existence. We all ask him to at least try, but every time he goes to rehab he doesn't take more than one step and just gives up. He told his girlfriend that he didn't want them to be together anymore because he didn't want to be with him out of pity. She told him she was with him because she loved him, but he told her she could not love a cripple. We keep telling him that he is not disabled and if he tries he will walk again, but he just has no hope. He has always had a very strong character, but it seems that after the accident his will was broken. He became a completely different person, as if he were not my brother. I just want to make him believe that he can get back to his previous way of life, but I don't know how to do it!
