Harry Edward Melling is a popular British actor, widely known for his role as Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter film series.

Melling was born on 13.03.1989 in London into a family of artists. His grandfather was actor Patrick Troughton, whose most famous role was the Second Doctor in the cult TV series Doctor Who. Several members of Harry's family, in addition to his grandfather, were also associated with the world of cinema - his two uncles and a cousin are actors. 

Little Harry has always had a passion for the stage - already at the age of 4 he staged mini-performances at home for his parents and brother Jack. The boy grew up an active and lively child, he loved to sing and dance. 

At the age of 15, Melling used royalties from films about the Wizard Potter to pay tuition at the prestigious Mill Hill boarding school. This educational institution, where Harry transferred from Hendon School, was graduated by Denis Thatcher, whose wife was Margaret Thatcher, the 71st Prime Minister of Great Britain. 

As a teenager, Melling studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, the UK's leading drama school. Melling then joined the National Youth Theater troupe - the world's first youth theater, founded in 1956, nurtured such famous actors as Daniel Craig, Colin Firth, Ben Kingsley and Keith Winslet, as well as musicians Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Ed Sheeran.

Harry Melling began his acting career with the role of Dudley, Harry Potter's cousin, played by Daniel Radcliffe. The role of a selfish and self-confident schoolboy, brought up in an atmosphere of permissiveness, was given to 10-year-old Melling after his mother sent photos of the teenager to the casting directors of the project. It was thanks to this role that the actor subsequently earned worldwide recognition and fame.

Harry Melling has starred in five of the eight films about the young wizard: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Order Phoenix "(2007) and" Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I "(2010). 

Between filming films based on J.K. Rowling's novels, the actor managed to take part in other equally interesting film projects. In 2005, 16-year-old Melling starred in a small role in the drama "Friends and Crocodiles" (directed by Stephen Poliakoff).

But already in 2016, the actor's biography was replenished with a role in the full-length adventure film "The Lost City of Z" about an explorer who set off in the 1920s in search of the mysterious capital of the Incas in the wilds of the Amazon. 

Nevertheless, Melling considers theater to be his main vocation. From film studios, the actor chose to move to the theatrical stage of the West End in London (an analogy of New York Broadway), and in 2014 Melling made his debut on the stage of the Brooklyn Academy of Music as a jester in the production of King Lear, along with famous actors Lauren O'Neill , Isabella Loland and Max Bennett. 

In April 2014, at the HighTide Festival, Melling presented his first play, Peddling, directed by Stephen Atkinson. The play was also a hit on the off-Broadway stage in New York. The 28-year-old actor shared:
