Can anyone give me advice - can I make plaster on a whitewashed wall and if so, how is it done and do I need any preliminary preparation of the wall Thank you in advance!!!

You can, but apply a primer in advance just in case. Ask at a specialty store. It is difficult to apply gypsum plaster, and then sand by hand repeatedly, but you will succeed.

No primer will help, the putty will start to fall in the first week. The guard must be removed all over, there is no other way.

If the whitewashing is on lime-sand plaster, scrape with a wire brush to a solid plaster. You wash the walls and spray them with water to wash the dust, apply gypsum plaster or for easier and stronger - gypsum glue. If you don't understand how to putty, look for the video on the net.
