Biography
Journalist and then documentary director for the BBC and Channel 4, Gurinder Chadha signed her first feature film, Une balade a Blackpool in 1993.
Already evocative of the Indian origins of the British filmmaker, this dramatic comedy, Jury Prize at the Locarno Festival and selected for the BAFTA Award for Best British Film in 1994, was followed almost seven years later by What's Cooking ?, which opened the Sundance 2000 Film Festival.
