Gerhard Schröder

German politician Gerhard Schroeder was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, who served as chancellor in the Federal Republic of Germany from 1998 to 2005. Prior to his appointment, he was Prime Minister of Lower Saxony and is now a shareholder in the investment bank Rothschild.

Gerhard Fritz Kurt Schroeder was born on 7 April 1944 in the German city of Mossenberg in the north of the Rhine-Westphalian state. His mother worked in agriculture, and his father was a corporal in the Wehrmacht, who died at the front in Romania shortly after the appearance of his son.
