Gennady Maslennikov is unique because he works as a mechanic, combining this profession with acting.

Maslennikov was born on November 15, 1965 in Perm, in an ordinary working-class family. He decided to become an actor as a child. Gennady spent every summer in pioneer camps. There were constant concerts and other events at which he was asked to perform. 

The shy boy denied, but the teachers insisted, assured that he would succeed. He went on stage and began to improvise: he told something, and the audience supported the performances with applause. Then Gennady Maslennikov realized that there was something attractive in his performances for the audience.

After school, the guy entered the Perm Institute of Culture, graduated from the acting department well: he had only A's in core disciplines.

The talented student was invited to the theater "By the Bridge" when he was in his third year. He worked there from 1993 to 2002 and then quit. Gennady explains his decision by the fact that he replayed all the classic roles, tried himself in different genres. At some point it seemed to him that there would be nothing new in the theater - a repetition of what he had gone through.

A few years later, Gennady got a job at the plant and has been working there as a mechanic for mechanical assembly for the tenth year. He proudly says that he turned out to be a good locksmith: after six months of work, he received the 4th grade.

To many, this choice of profession will seem strange, but not to Maslennikov. He says that he earns three times more than in the theater, while he also has three times more free time, and the factory is located not far from his home. Gennady Maslennikov remembers the words of his mother, who often repeated:

Gennady Maslennikov starred in only three films. He made his debut in Chronicles of Provincial Thieves in 2006, but the role was so tiny that the audience did not remember it.

In 2010, he was approved for the role of Gena's cowardly clerk in the TV series Real Boys. The actor says that the filming lasted for two days, so there were no problems with the main work.

In 2015, Maslennikov appeared in another series of the TNT channel, this time he got the main role. He played the security guard Tolya in the series "CHOP". The actor says that he immediately agreed to shoot, because the image of his character is well written. Tolik is a suspicious person, lives with two powerful women, mother and wife. The role was given to Gennady Maslennikov difficult, because he wanted to show the character of his hero, and in life the actor does not resemble his on-screen namesake.

For a year and a half, the actor watched the guards, and his previous experience came in handy: after the army, Maslennikov worked for some time as a guard at a plant in Perm. To act in "Chop", he took a vacation, then issued a vacation at his own expense. The authorities went to meet him. True, most of the footage was not included in the film. Gennady lives in Perm, he is married. His wife is a choreographer, his son graduated from school in 2016. Maslennikov says that he does not know what profession his son will choose, but he is definitely not going to become an actor. Gennady is incredibly happy about this.
