Iranian MMA fighter Gegard Mousasi is known as a professional. The man 5 times became the world champion, and today is on the leading positions in the rankings and continues to win new titles and titles.

Gegard was born in the summer of 1985 in the Iranian capital, Tehran. Musashi is Armenian. Initially, his ancestors bore the surname Movsesyan, but about a century ago one of the members of the family changed the surname to the present.

When the boy was 4 years old, he moved with his family to the town of Leiden in South Holland. That's where his parents put him in school. The guy is good at studying, doing his homework properly and being friends with his peers.

Of the 13 fights, he won all but one, with nine fights finished, sending his opponents to the knockout.

Performances in MMA at the professional level in Gegard's biography appear in 2003. During the competition, he knocked out Olympic judo champion Makoto Takamoto, but failed to beat MMA legend in Japan Akihiro Godo and crashed out of the Grand Prix.

In the fight for the title Cage Warriors FC in 2006, Gegard meets Gregory Buchelagem and at the very beginning of the fight he wins. The next 5 fights were also successful for Musashi, as they all brought victory, and in 2008 the man signed a contract with the Japanese organization Dream.

In the Dream Grand Prix, the middleweight champion Gegard also held more than one fight. In the 1st round, the athlete defeats the master of jiu-jitsu Denis Kang, then defeats the experienced Melvin Manhuf and goes to the final with a professional in jiu-jitsu Ronaldo Souza. After defeating him, Musashi becomes dream middleweight champion.

In the summer of 2009, a fight took place between Gegard Mousasi and Renato Sobral, where the Belt of the Stikeforce light heavyweight champion was put on the line. The fight was only 1 minute, this fight was the shortest fight for the title in the history of the organization. Gegard won by becoming a champion. However, the following year the fighter lost the title, as he lost to King Mo. In 2014, Gegard fought Lioto Machida and lost, but defeated Mark Munoz, and a year later he defeated Dan Henderson by TKO. In 2016, Gegard fought Thales Leites, Thiago Santos, Vitor Belfort and won all the fights.

The fight, which took place at Gegard in 2017 with former UFC champion Chris Weidman, was remembered by fans. When Musashi in the 2nd round stabbed his opponent in the head with his knee, the referee interrupted the fight, believing that the athlete had broken the rules. After reviewing the recording, the blows were recognized as the relevant rules, but the referee did not resume the fight. The reason for this was the state of Weidman, so Musashi won.

In the summer of 2017, Gegard signs a contract with Bellator MMA, which includes 6 fights. The fighter made his debut at Bellator in October of the same year, his opponent was the former champion of the organization, Russian fighter Alexander Shlemenko. The fight was tense, and both athletes showed good technique, but with a run of only 1 point by the referee's decision the victory was awarded to Musashi.

Russian fans and Shlemenko himself were outraged by the decision of the judges, and even after the fight to communicate with fans through the mobile application "Pereskop", Alexander allowed himself to insult the Dutchman. Not resting on this, the man filed a complaint with the association of mixed martial arts and demanded to reconsider the fight. The appeal was rejected because the judges could not find any errors.

In May 2018, Musashi competed against the current Bellator middleweight champion. His opponent was Brazilian citizen Rafael Caravaly. In the first fight Gegard by technical knockout won in this important competition for him and received the status of the new champion Bellator middleweight champion.

Like some public figures, Gegard Mousasi does not like to advertise his personal life, so it is not known for sure whether he has a wife and children.
