Leaving his homeland for several years without new hits, France quickly returned in 2016. He took part in the very important qualifying festival Melodifestivalen 2016, the winner of which traditionally represents the country at the next Eurovision Song Contest. And since, thanks to the singer Mons Zelmerlev, Sweden became the host of the show in 2016, the responsibility for the festival contestants was twofold.

France entered the final stage of the casting along with 11 other participants. There he performed the romantic composition "If I Were Sorry" and managed to win first place. Therefore, it is this song that will sound at the 2016 Eurovision final, which will be held in May in Stockholm.
