Fedor Abramov

The Russian writer Fyodor Abramov had a difficult life, did not immediately gain the favor of readers and won public recognition. Fedor went to the 1st grade in his native village, studied there for 4 years, and then moved to his older brother in Kushkopal. Having received a certificate, he entered the Leningrad University without any problems and began to study philology.

At the university, Abramov did not finish his studies, after the third year the first harbingers of war appeared, having learned about this, the young man immediately signed up as a volunteer. The first time he was wounded in 1941, a bullet entered the arm, but the guy quickly recovered and returned to duty.

The second time the shell hit his legs, Fyodor ended up in the hospital, and when he was discharged, the commission found the soldier unsuitable and sent him to the military machine gun school in Arkhangelsk as an assistant commander. A year later, the future writer was transferred to the Smersh department, where he stayed until 1945.

After demobilization, Abramov returned to the university, and then became a graduate student there. I chose the theme of Mikhail Sholokhov's work for my Ph.D. thesis. Without leaving the walls of his native university, at first he worked as a senior teacher, later as an assistant professor, then began to head the department of Soviet literature.

The first literary work appeared in the biography of Abramov in 1954, when he tried to publish an article in one magazine in which he spoke negatively about the life of the people of the collective farm village. For this, he was almost fired from the university, because the man had to admit that he had written a mistake.

He began writing his first novel, Brothers and Sisters, in 1950, but finished it only 6 years later. It was not immediately accepted for publication, only in 1958 did readers get acquainted with the work of the novice writer and positively appreciated it. Then he realized his true calling, left teaching and plunged deeper into literature.

Subsequently, this book marked the beginning of the literary cycle "Pryasliny", which was later supplemented by the novels "Two winters and three summers" and "Crossroads." Abramov met his future wife Lyudmila Krutikova as a student. In professional circles, the woman is known as a literary critic. The wedding took place in 1951. The personal life of Fedor Alexandrovich can be called successful, since the wife was next to her husband until the end of his days.

An interesting fact: the woman knew about her husband's betrayal, but was not going to give up and with all her might defended the right to happiness, which she did.
