I use Facebook, unfortunately I can't keep in touch with many acquaintances if I don't use it. But I try to avoid brainless scrolling in the feed, because sometimes I lose hours ... Otherwise, I definitely liked the comparison with religion.

   I agree with number 2. I also use Facebook mainly to contact people who are not close to me. I do not write where I have been and with whom I have gone. I upload photos sometimes, just to have them. I go in once a week for 2-3 minutes and that's it. For me, live communication has always come first and could not be replaced by conversations, chats, etc.

Sorry, but I don't understand, provided that if you really want to keep in touch with someone who is far away from you, you also have a viber, a messenger (he doesn't need a Facebook profile), as well as video calls in the good old forgotten skype, etc. These are all applications that allow you to send photos, videos, live chats, chat and more. How does Facebook surpass them? The answer is simple. We humans want to be noticed and feel significant. We want others to see us as we want to be, not as we are. We also want to be heard, to be liked, to be right. We want our personality, or what we identify with, to be on a pedestal. Facebook gives a deceptive feeling about these things, which is why it is used by so many people. It is based on the human ego, the social network is just the tool. It is much easier to stand behind the monitor, upload a few family photos, write a comment below how happy we are when we know that positive and praiseworthy comments and likes will fall under them, than to see each other or if the distance prevents you from taking place. meeting, talking to your loved ones and sharing that in addition to the abundance of happiness, you also have worries and failures and sorrows. This will not bring you approval, but it will at least give you reassurance. Well, do we realize that the happiness with which we parade on the net can bring pain to someone, and this is not about envy, but about the drama of some people. I give an example: A young family living abroad learns the wonderful news, that they are expecting a child, they are naturally in euphoria, and what else can they do but brag about it on Facebook, and to make it even more impressive, they upload a photo from a video. Likes and congratulations begin. So far so good, but imagine that somewhere among the friends of these people there is a couple who are sterile, or a couple who have recently lost a child? This will reach into their wound. Whether someone who wants to "shout" something in public is aware of these things - I do not think. True, pregnant women are not to blame for the situation of others, and they have the right to enjoy the moment, as well as to share, but why should it be with 200, 300, 500 or more people, as it can be with closest friends and relatives, somehow it would be more beautiful, more casual, more real, not proud, obliging and publicizing. We confuse happiness with the ego, and everything shared, as information about someone's personality in virtual social networks stems from the ego. That's what I think about it.
