Biography

Evgeny Pavlovich Krylatov - Soviet and Russian composer, author of music for 140 fictional, documentary and animated films, laureate of the USSR State Prize (1982), People's Artist of the Russian Federation (1994), laureate of the President of the Russian Federation (2014).

Evgeny Pavlovich was born on February 23, 1934 in the city of Lysva, Perm Territory, in the family of workers Pavel Evgenievich and Zoya Nikolaevna. In 1936, the family moved to the Motovilikha working district of the city of Perm. The boy's paternal great-grandfather sang in an Orthodox church on the kliros, his father took violin lessons in his youth, was a music lover and collected records of classical works. Mother loved to sing folk songs.

Eugene from an early age began to show a craving for art, and at the age of 7 the boy was enrolled in a music school. Since the family lived in poverty, for a long time Krylatov practiced without an instrument, practicing on the table. As keys, the boy used a picture of a piano keyboard cut from a textbook. The constrained circumstances did not prevent Eugene from starting his first composing experiments. After graduating from the music school, Krylatov entered the Perm Music College in the class of the teacher I.P. Gladkova, who was a well-known musician and educator in Perm.

In 1948, the city's cultural department presented the young man with a straight-stringed piano. For 4 years of study, Evgeny composed several romances, as well as a string quartet. Director of the music school N.A. Mitropolov sent the student to the competition of young composers in Moscow, where Eugene was given a letter of recommendation for admission to the conservatory. In 1953, Evgeny Krylatov entered two departments of the Moscow Conservatory at once - composition (class of Professor M.I.Chulaki) and piano (class of V.N. Natanson). The future classics of the 20th century - Alfred Schnittke, Alemdar Karamanov, Eduard Lazarev - studied at the composer faculty together with Eugene.

Over the years of his studies, Evgeny created a number of large-scale works - a piano concert, "Pamir Capriccio", cantata "Party of Lenin". After graduating from the conservatory in 1959, Krylatov began to work on creating music for dramatic performances of the Maly Theater, the Moscow Youth Theater, the Riga Theater of Russian Drama. Over the course of 18 years, the composer wrote music for the performances "The Supreme Being", "The Man Who Laughs", "The Inspector General", "Minor", "Romeo and Juliet", "To Kill a Mockingbird", "Woe from Wit", to the ballet "Sing, Poet" and the musical "Valentine and Valentine".

Krylatov's diploma work was the ballet "The Seven-Color Flower", which for 5 years from 1965 was performed on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater.

Music

The first experiments of Evgeny Krylatov in writing music for films were unsuccessful. After working on the films "Life First", "Vaska in the Taiga", which appeared in the early 60s, there was a ten-year break. The beginning of Krylatov's creative biography is considered to be 1969, when the cartoons "Umka" with the popular "Lullaby Bear" and "Santa Claus and Summer" were released, for which Evgeny Pavlovich wrote the song "This is what it is, our summer." In 1970 the composer was invited to create music for the films "Property of the Republic" by Vladimir Bychkov, "Oh, this Nastya!" Yuri Pobedonostsev and "On Love" by Mikhail Bogin.

In the 70s, the music of Evgeny Pavlovich from the films "And then I said - no ...", "Looking for a man", "The woodpecker does not have a headache", "Confusion of feelings", "The Little Mermaid" won great love of the audience. Among the best examples of love lyrics are the songs "Waiting" from the movie "And it's all about him", "Promise me love" from the sci-fi movie "Aquanauts", an instrumental theme from the melodrama "Don't part with your loved ones."

Songs from children's adventure films "Winged Swing", "How Much Progress Has Come" ("The Adventures of Electronics"), "Beautiful Far Away" and "Flight" ("Guest from the Future") replenished the golden piggy bank of music for children.

For several decades, Evgeny Krylatov was fortunate enough to work with the best poets of the era - Bella Akhmadulina, Robert Rozhdestvensky, Leonid Derbenev, Ilya Reznik, Mikhail Plyatskovsky, Yuri Entin. Krylatov's songs were once performed by actors Alexander Abdulov, Dmitry Kharatyan, Andrey Mironov, Nikolai Karachentsov, Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, Oleg Tabakov, as well as pop artists - Irina Otieva, Larisa Dolina, Iosif Kobzon, Alexander Gradsky, Vitas, Yulia Savicheva.

In the 90s, when the system of Soviet cinema collapsed, Yevgeny Krylatov could no longer work at the film studio. Gorky, "Mosfilm" and the studio. Dovzhenko. In 1993, the composer released the first disc with the best musical compositions "Forest Deer", a year later - "Winged Swing", in 1996 the author's next collection - "I Love You" was released. In 1997, Krylatov's song "Children's Prayer", written on the verses of Yuri Entin, sounded at the charity evening "Lessons for Adults - with Vera, Hope and Love."

In the 2000s, the composer took part in the creation of the films "Women's Logic", "Ball Gown", "Kolkhoz Entertainment", "Extra Time", "Thumbelina". Evgeny Pavlovich became the author of music for the TV series "Under the Polar Star", "Annushka". The latest films with music by Krylatov - "Mom is better!" and "Three Women of Dostoevsky" - appeared in 2010.

In 2016, the composer received the White Cranes of Russia award and the Order of Friendship of Peoples. In May 2017, along with Igor Krutoy, Dina Garipova, Grigory Gladkov, he joined the selection jury of the Russian team for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In the same year he became a member of the council of the Russian Authors' Society.
