Yevgeny Roizman is a prominent political figure in modern Russia. In the biography of this man, there was a place for imprisonment, business and politics. Roizman is also known as the founder of the City without Drugs organization and the mayor of Yekaterinburg. However, few people know that Evgeny Vadimovich collects works of art and is a member of the Russian Writers' Union.

The future politician was born on September 14, 1962 in Sverdlovsk (as the present-day Yekaterinburg was called at that time). Yevgeny Roizman's father worked at the plant as an energy engineer, then taught Russian language and literature until his retirement. The mother worked in a kindergarten. In his school years, little Eugene did not shine with grades and diligence. Roizman was even expelled from one school, as he himself emphasized in an interview, for bad behavior. But the young man was happy to devote time to sports: volleyball, swimming, skiing.

Roizman began to earn money on his own at the age of 14 - a young man unloaded wagons. Then Yevgeny left home, having quarreled with his parents. The lack of supervision by the elders was not slow to affect the life of the young man: even before he came of age, Yevgeny Roizman came to the attention of the police, and in 1981 the first sentence was read out to the future politician. The punishment turned out to be conditional, but later it was changed to imprisonment. Roizman spent 2 years and 14 days behind bars, having been released in 1983.

Yevgeny Vadimovich was serving punishment for theft, fraud and illegal carrying of knives. According to rumors, Roizman appropriated the girls' property, entering into their trust. However, in an interview with blogger Yuri Dudyu (2018), Evgeny stressed that these assumptions are groundless.

After such tragic events, Roizman embarked on the path of correction. The young man got a job at the plant, and in the evenings he studied in the "evening" (as the evening school for workers was then called), filling the gaps in knowledge. Eugene's diligence helped him enter the university.

The future politician chose the specialty of a historian, becoming interested in the ancient world and the events that took place at the source of civilization. Roizman overcame the first course without problems, from the second he was expelled. In 1989, Evgeny Vadimovich again became a student of history, however, this time the correspondence department. After another expulsion, several academic leaves and 18 years after the first admission, in 2013 Roizman received the coveted diploma of an archivist historian.

In 1992, Evgeny Vadimovich co-founded a company called "Jewelry House". The company was engaged in the production of expensive watches and jewelry. Roizman's love for beauty was not limited to "jewelry": in 1999, the entrepreneur opened his own museum, where he collected a good collection of samples of Old Believer icon painting. 

Later, a workshop for the restoration of icons and other works of art was opened at this museum, as well as a restoration training studio for children, which works for free. In addition, it is known that Roizman is a patron of the arts. The politician and businessman helps the Yekaterinburg orphanages.

The main brainchild of Yevgeny Vadimovich, perhaps, can rightfully be considered a fund called "City without drugs", founded in 1999. As part of this project, several rehabilitation centers have been opened for children and adults who have become addicted to the potion. Also, fund employees help law enforcement agencies to fight drug trafficking by collecting information about points of sale. The project proved to be successful, and in 2011 Roizman headed a new foundation, dubbing it "Country without drugs."

Evgeny Roizman is no stranger to poetry. The politician published several collections of his own poems and even became a member of the Russian Writers' Union. Also the authorship of Roizman belongs to the collection of poetry "Once upon a time", the foreword to which was written by Dmitry Bykov, a famous publicist and writer. In 2011, Yevgeny Vadimovich tried his hand at prose, having published the book "Non-fictional stories." The well-known prose writer Mikhail Weller agreed to write the foreword to the publication.

The figure of Yevgeny Roizman appeared on the political field in 2001. Then Evgeny Vadimovich took the post of adviser to the governor of his native region. Two years later he tried his hand at the elections to the post of State Duma deputy as a self-nominated candidate. Roizman's candidacy was supported by a sufficient number of people. As a deputy, Yevgeny Vadimovich also put a lot of effort into campaigns to combat drug trafficking.

In 2004, Yevgeny Roizman became part of the so-called democratic "Group of Five", which also included Mikhail Zadornov, Galina Khovanskaya, Vladimir Ryzhkov, Viktor Pokhmelkin. This parliamentary community, which has not been registered, has not achieved much success in promoting its own ideas.

From the same party, Yevgeny Vadimovich ran for the State Duma, but was later excluded from the electoral list, and in September of the same year he left the party ranks altogether, creating his own organization called "Power in Truth." Also in 2007, Evgeny Roizman published a book of the same name, in which he honestly told about the everyday life of a deputy.

Four years later, Yevgeny Vadimovich received his party membership card again. This time, at the invitation of Mikhail Prokhorov, the politician joined Pravoye Delo. Then, in 2011, he left this party. In 2012, Roizman became a member of the Civic Platform, from which he nominated a candidate for elections to the Yekaterinburg Duma, and then to the post of mayor of the city. And even despite a fierce information campaign against candidate Yevgeny Roizman, the politician headed Yekaterinburg in 2013.

First of all, having occupied a new office, Yevgeny Vadimovich replaced the traditional photograph of Vladimir Putin with a portrait of the poet Joseph Brodsky. Roizman's years of leadership can be characterized as a time of innovation and initiative. For example, the politician suggested increasing the share of tax payments returned to the city budget. 

It is noteworthy that in 2014, Roizman became the only mayor who openly supported the rallies on Bolotnaya Square and even took part in a rally in support of those who were taken into custody in the so-called “Bolotnaya case”. Among other things, Roizman has repeatedly spoken out against censorship in the media and advocated a peaceful solution to the situation in Ukraine.

Yevgeny Roizman twice tied the knot. The first wife gave the man a daughter, Lina. The second wife of the politician was Yulia Kruteeva. In this marriage, Evgeny Vadimovich had daughters, Evgeny and Nina.

It is also known that in 2011 Roizman had an affair with journalist Aksana Panova, who gave birth to two more children to the man - a son, Yevgeny, and a daughter, Alexandra. However, even this did not save the relationship, and after a while Roizman returned to the family and Yulia Kruteeva.

Now Yevgeny Roizman continues to hold the post of mayor of Yekaterinburg. In 2018, the term of the mayorship of Yevgeny Vadimovich expires, and the politician is not sure that he will be able to retain the leadership position.

Roizman himself is sure that such actions are aimed at preventing him from becoming mayor of the city again. In addition, Yevgeny Roizman stressed, such a bill became an insult to all residents of Yekaterinburg.
