Biography
Born in Staten Island (New York), to an orthopedic surgeon father, Eric Randolph Close is the eldest of three boys. He grew up in San Diego, where he spent much of his youth, then moved to Los Angeles for his studies. With a master's degree in communication in his pocket, it was nevertheless towards comedy that he headed once his studies were completed. The young man takes a liking to boards during his university studies. He therefore prolonged his initiation into the theater, while passing auditions, and playing in commercials. He landed his first role in front of a camera in 1991 in the 7th season of MacGyver. A vocation was born.
Following a few appearances in Major Dad, Without remission and Taking Liberty, Eric Close joined the soap Santa Barbara, where he played the role of Sawyer Walker in the spring of 1992. He then participated in several TV films: Hercules and the Forgotten Kingdom, Without Consent , and Long Island Fever. The actor moved up a gear in 1994 with the short series Les Mckenna, in which he was Brick McKenna, one of the main characters. After a recurring role in Season 6 of The Reed Sisters, NBC entrusted him with the male lead role of Dark Skies, in which he played John Loengard, at the heart of a government plot on the hidden existence of aliens. The series does not go beyond the 1st season, but opens the doors of Hollywood to it. He immediately becomes one of the Seven Mercenaries, in the television adaptation of John Sturges' western. In 1999, Glenn Gordon Caron offered him the headliner of his new series, A Top Secret Agent. There is Michael Wiseman, a bionic man on special assignments for the US government. The show does not achieve sufficient audiences on the CBS network and is canceled at the end of its first season. Eric Close's career took a decisive turn in 2002, when he landed one of the main roles of the FBI: missing, the new series of Jerry Bruckheimer, prolific producer behind such hits as CSI and Cold Case: closed cases. For 7 seasons, he plays Martin Fitzgerald, FBI agent in a cell responsible for finding missing persons. The show allows him to go behind the camera and stage a few episodes. When the series stopped in 2009, Close became a teacher in Seven Deadly Sins, a mini-series broadcast on Lifetime.
