Of German origin, Hans-Jörg Gudegast - real name - immigrated to the United States, where his talent for athletics enabled him to obtain a scholarship to university. Finally changing direction, he directed, with his friend Bob McKinnon, a film called The Riverbusters , and decided to submit it to producers. It was nevertheless in 1980, that Eric Braeden was truly propelled to the front of the stage thanks to his daily performance in the skin of the magnate Victor Newman in the soap opera  The Young and the Restless. After having lent his features to the passenger John Jacob Astor IV, in the prestigious Titanic of James Cameron, the actor doubles the principal responsible for the catastrophe, Joseph Bruce Ismay, in the telefilm The Titanic Chronicles . In 2000, he repeated the experience of dubbing by narrating an episode of the documentary series Biographydedicated to her compatriot Marlene Dietrich. Honored with a star on the Walk of Fame seven years later, Eric Braeden cumulates the caps of actor and executive producer for The Man Who Came Back, telling a story of revenge in the midst of the Civil War. The spectators then find him as a guest of How I Met Your Mother in the skin of the father of Cobie Smulders alias Robin Scherbatsky. In 2009, the actor announced his departure from The Young and the Restlessafter 30 years of good and loyal service. Eventually, he comes to an agreement with CBS and extends his contract.
