Eric Berger

Born in 1969 in Amiens, in the Somme, Eric Berger is the grandson of the French resistance fighter Maurice Berger who died in deportation on April 27, 1945. Very early on developing a passion for the theater, he left his hometown to join the National Superior Conservatory of dramatic art from Paris.

If he is illustrated mainly on stage, with performances in the prestigious plays "La Ronde" by Arthur Schnitzler, "That a slice of bread" by Rainer Werner Fassbinder or "Le Misanthrope"of Molière, Eric Berger simultaneously lands a few roles in the cinema. The actor is thus in the credits of My father this hero (1990), Montparnasse Pondichery (1993) and Tom is all alone (1994). He also appears briefly in television series such as Maigret or Julie Lescaut. In 1997, his film career took a significant turn when he was chosen to play one of the four students of the popular comedy Four boys full of future (1997) by Jean-Paul Lilienfeld.

It was in 2001 that Eric Berger was revealed to the general public. In Tanguy by Etienne Chatiliez, the actor plays the title role, a 28-year-old PhD student as amiable as he is brilliant who does not want to live anywhere other than with his parents, played by André Dussollier and Sabine Azéma. The latter, who find it more and more difficult to bear this promiscuity with their son, then try to make him leave. With 4.3 million admissions on French soil, the comedy is a very big success. The feature film also illustrates an increasingly widespread social phenomenon and the term "Tanguy" becomes an expression which has entered everyday language to describe children who do not want to leave their parents' home. 

Building on this success, Eric Berger continued his film career with several supporting roles in comedies, his favorite genre, but without however finding a role as outstanding as that of Tanguy. He is thus in the cast of Lies and betrayals and more if affinities (2004), Confidence reigns (id.), Toi et moi (2006), Can you keep a secret? (2008), Neuilly his mother! (2009), Bank error in your favor (id.), My worst nightmare (2011) and My family already adores you (2016). The actor with the face of a young premier is however more active in the theater, as well as on television via several series (Profilage, Chefs, Mongeville, etc.) and television films (Clochemerle, Le Client, Le Zèbre, etc.).

In 2019, Eric Berger slips back into the shoes of his most famous character, Tanguy, for the needs of Tanguy, the return, sequel to the 2001 film. This second opus takes up the same plot as its predecessor, which s' was completed by Tanguy's departure for China with Meï Lin. But the latter, who is now 44 years old, is forced to return to his parents' home with his daughter Zhu under his arm because his beloved has left him. Catastrophic to see their "little one" in this state, they do everything to give him back a taste for life, without realizing that in doing so, they are braiding the rope to hang themselves ... Because Tanguy begins to feel good with his parents again. !
