The efficiency of the future "Mr. Barracuda" can only be envied: during the day the young man worked as a bricklayer, in the evening he sang songs on the streets of the city, and on weekends he performed music for restaurant visitors. At the age of 17, the young man moved to Europe, performed in nightclubs, accompanying singing with energetic dances and almost circus tricks (in a jump he sat on a twine, with a modest weight of 65 kg he threw weights in a centner).

The rise in popularity of the singer, who took a pseudonym in honor of the continent, began when producers abandoned the idea of ​​forcing Simon to perform songs in English or German.
