Elena Grushko

Elena Arsenyevna Grushko, more familiar to readers under the pseudonym Elena Arsenyeva, is a Russian writer, journalist, publisher, philologist, author of detective stories, love stories and historical novels.

On the way to success, the writer from the Far East tried different genres - historical miniatures, fantasy, spy detectives, but settled on "ladies'" novels. Fans call her the author of the Russian "Angelica".

The first pages of the biography of the novelist were written in Khabarovsk, where Elena Grushko was born in September 1952. Here she spent her childhood and youth, the first lines were written. According to the writer, the debut took place in the 2nd grade: the girl wrote an essay about the life of sailors, which she knew firsthand.

After leaving school, Elena did not leave her hometown and chose the Faculty of Philology at a local university for further studies. In parallel, the girl studied at the screenwriting department of VGIK, but in absentia.

Having received a diploma of higher education, she found work on television in Khabarovsk: the graduate was offered to edit a children's and youth program. But Elena Grushko was more attracted to work with texts, so she got a job as a journalist in the literary and art magazine "Far East". Then she worked in a book publishing house.

In the 1980s, the future novelist moved to Nizhny Novgorod, where she worked as a regional representative of the Young Guard.

The first publication for Elena Arsenyeva (the writer took such a pseudonym in honor of her father) turned out to be "lumpy": the short story "Not a wife", which appeared on the pages of "Far East", was subjected to disparaging criticism in the newspaper "Literary Russia", where the author posted writers. In 1984 Elena presented her readers with a collection of stories "The Last Snow of April", which the publishing house received favorably and decided to publish.

Arsenyeva's first literary experiments were made in documentary filmmaking. But, having paid tribute to realism, the young prose writer plunged into the world of fantasy, fairy tales and folklore. Her stories "Blue Cedar" and "Constellation of Visions" are inhabited by people and fairy-tale characters, talking flowers and herbs, good sorceresses and evil sorcerers.

1989 became a landmark year in the life of Elena Arsenyeva: the Siberian woman was awarded a membership card of the Writers' Union of Russia. She became an active participant in the activities of the All-Union Association of Young Science Fiction Writers, formed at the Molodaya Gvardiya publishing house. Arsenyeva attended international science fiction conventions in Europe.

In the late 1990s, the writer took a sharp turn, switching from fiction to detective stories. Then came historical and romance novels. Mom decided to fill in the gap and wrote something similar, but in the Russian manner.

Having visited France, Elena Arsenievna fell in love with Argentine tango. She says:
